I enter Malaysia frequently. Used to have a Maxis PrePaid (HotLink) card since 2008, where yearly plans exist only for RM $30+ to keep the number alive. I moved to Yodoo (Now Spark) under CelcomDigi network.

Compared with Singtel Roaming Partner (CelcomDigi) vs Malaysia MNO (Spark)
Network prioritisation exists. Speed test differences exist, tested this in a crowded mall in KL, SingTel speed test achieved 50~ Mbps, whereas my Spark line could hit 300+. Same device, same spot when testing. Unfortunately, I did not have a screenshot

that’s correct, i used to keep a prepaid line also when i traveled to malaysia more frequently. but now i think they tightened the rules foreigners cannot activate esim online freely like how we would few years back

appreciate if anyone knows if any carriers in malaysia still allows this

for the 25% surcharge, it means that if a call is $4/min, they will charge $5/min (25% extra on top of the original $4) — i kenna before when i answered a call thinking that it was a whatsapp call

I see, that is very bad. Pay-Per-Use rate is already very high, yet need to add 25% surcharge...

Many users prefer eight or SIMBA for roaming because of free roaming voice. Same for Starhub 5G Unlimited+ and 5G Platimum plans. Now M1 Maxx also has free roaming voice calls from/to +65 Singapore number.

Other users are also okay with Gomo, Singtel hi! as they do not support roaming voice calls and no extra charges beyond the subscribed monthly charges and add-on charges if any.

for me i can notice a difference between MNVO and MNO that’s why i’m sticking with singtel, given that singtel is not perfect but it’s still what works best for me hahaha it’s like choosing the lesser evil

Same here. I seldom travel and I stick to Singtel S$15.28 line as the main line as it is still the best one for local usages among the lines I tested (Singtel 5G, Maxx 5G, CL 5G, Starhub Prepaid S 5G, Singtel hi! 4G, eigth 4G, CUniq 4G and SIMBA).

Then I use eight mobile S$8 plan for occassional roaming.

I also have Starhub Prepaid S legacy 5G line as a backup for places Singtel network is not good whereas Starhub is better.

did your promotion end date reset from 2028 to 2027 after the renewal? I'm thinking if I should give it a try, but dont want to shorten the 2028 extension.

Haha, dare not to try as well...

There are more and more successful stories for S$15.28 plan recontract (not by clicking the link, but by talking to Singtel). But I will keep the status quo for the seocnd line (recontract rejected) as we do not need Malaysia Roaming any time soon.

My father contract is ending in late oct , its the $15.28 one from last year. Tried to recontract to the $15.28 240gb one also kena rejected. How ah ? just wait for better deals ?

I previously wrote that my father got rejected for both $15.28 plan . Received a promo sms few days ago for the 340gb $15.28 plan and subsequently recontract for it. Here's the link , worth a try, not sure if its targeted anot.

Finally the CS replied today and just managed to recontract at the same price of $15.28 with following inclusions:

340GB, 1,000 mins, 500 SMS, FREE Caller ID for 1st 12 mths, FREE 12 months 5G access, Free 50GB DataRoam Monthly Malaysia (12 mth), Free SCAM Protect. Nothing special I guess.

FYI, I didn't had any link to sign up from, the CS processed on his end through WhatsApp chat
chat with Singtel whatsapp SA they offer me same plan but @$20.37 :(

same link as the reported 340GB earlier but targeted so your account is eligible. I turn off Singtel marketing so i did not receive anything at all, not even the $20 plan.

worst case scenario is I need to pay $19 for oct 27-jul 28 instead of 15.28, so about 36$ for 2 years worth of Malaysia roaming, to me is acceptable.

Adding one more data point. I went back and forth with Singtel whatsapp and was offered a 15.28$ 250GB contract but without MY roaming data. so not different from being non contract, hence I have skipped the renewal.

thanks. very weird. i call in they say my contract (currently cis sim at $19) expire 1 nov, if i recon the 15.28 now, have to pay early recon fee of $23.
so its apparently still can. but i thought 18 months can recon liao?
so i tried my luck yesterday and call them again. they told me no 15.28, ask me sign up the $19 plan and will waive the $23 early recon. i said no, your previous agent tell me got 15.28. then they say no, thats for senior plan. i continued to say no and that your previous agent tell me there is 15.28 and dont need to be senior just need to pay recon early fee..

today they call me. say will give me 15.28, but 4g, no 5g and dont need pay early recon fee. im like wtf no, it clearly say free 12months 5g+. then he continue to say thats for senior. and i said no, i have the promo website infront of me.
then they send me a link ask me take photo upload.

i show them these 2-
https://www.singtel.com/personal/products-services/mobile/eform/simonlyplusform

https://www.singtel.com/personal/pr...948&utm_id=27881568&ccde_an=SOP_30_EXP_SMS_27

then he say ok 1 time exception give it to you 15.28.....but i have 2 lines with them, they tell me can only give exception to 1 line, the other line need to sign $19. i say nvm, give 1 line can already, i will port out the other one.

wah lao... if the $19 plan...have 1000 mins talk time, it'll be perfect already lol.

Wah, you really need that many minutes of talk time? The S$19.25 plan is better than S$15.28 plan in almost all aspects except voice call minutes and number of SMS, if you are willing to pay.

Terms and conditions of the S$19.25 5G+ Enhanced Lite plan recontract offer, with 12 months contract.

Looks like 5G access and 5G+ Enhanced are forever, free caller ID is for 24 months. But after 12 months, the price goes up to S$35 per month, Malaysia roaming data becomes 10GB and no more neighbours roaming.

https://cdn1.singteldigital.com/con...reements/16jul2026-simonlylite-offers-tnc.pdf

Enhanced Lite Plan Unlimited local data at $19.25 (first 12 months): Customers must subscribe to a SIM Only Plan that is bundled with 300GB local data and DATA X INFINITY add-on, subject to DATA X’s terms and condition and our Fair Usage Policy, with a 12-month minimum subscription period. They will be given 400 local minutes talk time and 400 local SMS for 12 months. Monthly subscription will be chargeable at $19.25 for the first 12 months, and $35 thereafter. 10GB of Bundled Malaysia Roaming will be given to customers every month and unutilised amounts will not be refunded or carried over to the next month.

Free Malaysia Roaming 100GB (12 mths): This promotion is valid for 12 months upon recontract. Applicable to Singtel Mobile Postpaid customers. Exclusively available for target customers only.
