Forgot to mention that you will need to deposit at least $1000 to open an account. Note that the savings account interest rate is much better than the local banks. Do check out the CIMB website.

I prefer MY banks.. better service and better rates.. :D

If you are referring to using Singapore ATM card on Malaysia ATM machine, then at the moment, the exchange rate from ATM withdrawal is better than the money changer provided
(i) you withdraw money from the same bank (eg, use CIMB ATM card on CIMB ATM machine). If you withdraw money not from the same bank (eg, use CIMB ATM card on Maybank ATM machine), then there is a service charge
(ii) there is no surcharge for overseas withdrawal of the same machine (you need to check the terms and conditions of the bank.) CIMB do not have such surcharge. Someone mentioned that Maybank and UOB have no surcharge as well.

CIMB rate can be found here. Look under the "Buying TT column". 2.5523 now.

I tried the Uob ATM but the machine keeps saying transaction canceled..anyone knows why? Password is still 5 pin like Singapore right?

Need to activate your card for overseas cash withdrawal. Just go to UOB SG ATM to activate or call UOB customer service officer. Pin is the same as the one u used in SG.

Like what some has mentioned, most likely you did not activate your ATM card for overseas withdrawal. It is a new security feature to prevent unauthorized overseas withdrawal which happen to DBS cards last year.
