I too have sent a water damaged phone in to repair, kept hounding them to go look at it before the water corroded the parts. For whatever reason, they didn't inform me its ready (i checked the online status and it says its ready). Could it be because they don't want to spoil my weekend? oh damn man

u're lucky.

I called them up twice, on consecutive days. each time they said they'll get back to me within the day.

they did not.

i'm so not happy with sony atm. so much so that i'm about to jump ship to other brands with better after-sales support.

The issue is not Sony... it's 6range holdings which is in charge of support.

Judging from reviews, I think the most significant improvement is the battery.

Z's battery is not very good but the battery life for Z1 according to the reviews read seems really good.

I'm very tempted to upgrade also.

It is a Sony issue after all. To a consumer in sg, buy Sony phone-> get lousy support (from Sony appointed erd party vendor) = marred the whole experience. people may just switch to other brand.

I myself encounter the slow service. the after sales experience makes me want to explore other options.

from my experience, they will just input in the system, 'called customer back', but in reality never call back at all.

what i did was i kept calling everyday to ask them to escalate and stuff like that. duno if it will help your case or not, but i didn't get a new phone unlike mr fat_bas3rd. haven't collected my phone yet also.

i tink u may notice smoother performance in general performance. As to whether it's worthy to upgrade or not, I feel that if u use the camera a lot, then probably yes. I'm a Z user too, would have upgraded if I'm loaded, but too bad I'm not.

would have upgraded if im loaded as well, but sadly im not. got another price plan that i can use for upgrade, so see how first ba. at time of release i remember my XZ was 300+ for the standard data plan, before any trade in. Wonder how much the XZ1 will be priced at.

I'm currently using the Xperia Z, and have decided to upgrade to the Z1. My reasons for doing so:

1. The screen is definitely better than the Z. It looks more vibrant to me. I'm just hoping that the Z1 will function better than the Z under direct sunlight.
2. I use my phone quite a lot for music, so it's a huge plus that there is no more earphone flap.
3. Played with the Z1 for a while and I feel that it's a lot "speedier" than the Z.
4. Higher capacity battery should translate to longer battery life.
5. I don't use the camera that much, to be honest. But a dedicated camera button and the Timeshift-burst mode are useful features. I can also see that shots are taken at a faster speed, compared to the Z.

Suggestion: recontract with Starhub and get an iPhone 5S. Then sell off the 5S (high resale value now) and get the Xperia Z at non-contract price. If you're lucky enough to be able to get your hands on a gold 5S, you might even earn some money after selling the 5S and buying the Xperia Z.
