Yeah this is the first impression i got after looking at the screen... especially i from SGN2.

However watching movie with it, the feel is much better than watching it in SGN2. partly i think is becos of the size.

Hmm how is watching movies better on the XZ cos of the size? Thought SGN2 would be better for movies as it has a bigger screen size?

I guess not only because of the size but the HD resolution and colours contrast, it is more pleasing to the eyes compared to AMOLED.

I did play the preloaded videos and pics and thought they looked really good as well. It's the Bravia Engine kicking in, right? I wonder why didn't Sony apply this to the rest of the phone's display functions rather than just limiting it to videos and pics? Batt life issue?

Yup, definitely don't have an issue with poor viewing angles to me. I don't look at my phones sideways.

Yes, you are right. When you view photo and video, the Bravia Engine 2 will turn on to enhance the photo and video, this is the same technology used in their Sony TV but for TV, it is always turn on unless you turn off the TV.

So for phone, it will help to save on the battery when you are not viewing photo or video.

I have many friends who are using Samsung also commented that the video viewing is very impressive even when I was using my Xperia S with 720P resolution.

The viewing angle is a hardware stuff. Specs of XZ display stated 160 degree and there is nothing much you can improve on. Software yes, but not by much. It's a hardware limitation, not a software. There is only so much software side can do.

Yup, but I'm not talking about the viewing angle, although the Xperia Z is definitely poor in this area as well. For the record, I for one don't have an issue with poor viewing angles, as the phone is for my own usage exclusively.

What's bugging me is the apparent poor contrast ratio of the display even when viewed straight on. In comparison to other phones, it doesn't have enough punch and lush colours like for example what the HTC Butterfly offers.

Ok then I am very sure the main cause is the hardware issue and there is not much thing can the software do in terms of all these problems. It might be a hardware limitation.

Today managed to go down to Change Alley M1 to get my XZ.
After 2 hrs of messing around with it, I would say it is a huge step up from my Arc.

I find the screen ok, white not yellowish leh.
I'm will be using juice defender ultimate instead of the stamina thingy, will update after the 8 hr charge.

Game play very shoik~
Phone speakers sounds acceptable.


Nitpicks..
It seems to load my picasa album very slowly and it crashed twice.. (maybe because I got too much photos lol~

I'll give this phone a early score of 8/10

the rumoured spec for S4 seem boring. and i predict the design and look should be similar to S3/Note kinda of design. I am bored with Samsung similar design liao. going for a change
