Just wondering anyone using Accuweather's Holo theme widget? For my phone the information are displayed in a mess... Is it because the widget doesn't support 1080p screens?

Just a reminder to those who buy the Xperia Z cheap at some of the mobile shops out there, I was told that Sony Mobile will be giving the warranty to those sets as they are throwing prices ridiculously which affect the image of Sony Mobile.

I agree with that also.

I dont see any logic in here. If a mobile shop is willing to cut their margin and sell cheap, then does it affect the image or what? Price should be associated with brand, as we are not talking about Vertu phones here.

Stock cannot be got from elsewhere other than Sony. If from someother place, then its counterfeit. If export set sold, then yes it is a different matter altogether.

Having said that, HTC is losing ground due to their ****ty logic of having the warranty honoured if bought from their authorised resellers or their showroom. It affects the resale market and bros wanting to switch will be affected.

If your statement is true, then SONY is taking a move in the wrong direction.

Does anyone knows why my estimated standby time suddenly drop (stamina mode off) under power management?

At 100% battery level, the estimated standby time is 14hrs – meaning if the phone is on standby (screen off), 14hrs it will drain completely.
I swore it was much higher than that before today.

I also used Battery monitor widget to confirm that.

Reboot twice still the same. Is there some where I can force it to recalculate?

it is calculated based on your current usage if i'm not wrong
So you want you can just sit the phone there whole day and turn it on and you can see the standby will go up. nothing to be bothered about

I managed to get a set of Xperia Z over the last 2 weeks and have been using it as my regular phone, since my previous Galaxy Nexus got a messy screen crack days before. I have a pretty good feel of the device – the hardware and general experience on the device.

The Good
Xperia Z has a slim profile – almost the same thickness as the iPhone 5. What I like about the outside is the full glass finish on both the front and back of the device, giving it a very luxury look. I was never a fan of white phones, until this one; the white Xperia Z looks awesome. Another thing is despite the 5-inch screen; the phone doesn’t seem as big and can still easily fit into my pocket. The weight is not too much either; hence you can hold it comfortably for long time usage on MRT for video and gaming

What surprised me the most for Xperia Z was speed and responsiveness of the device. There are many positive benchmark tests published on the web including this Sony Xperia Z vs. HTC Butterfly; Xperia Wins Benchmarks & Others; Loses & Ties Also, and my own personal experience reinforced the fact. Xperia Z is visibly faster in all areas, be it browsing, typing, switching between apps and even loading Gmail.

Battery life is reasonable, packing at 2330mah. I have been using it with LTE and no problem lasting through the day. There is a Stamina Mode that apparently extends the battery life if it falls below a certain percentage.

The Bad
While the profile is slim for the size, I miss the older design concepts of Arc and Xperia S, where the sides are curved in. Xperia Z feels awkward to hold compared to the older designs due to the sharp edge and wide width (since the screen is bigger); I can hardly wrap my hand around the device width and 1-hand operation can be a struggle. I guess this is a trade-off for the glass finish and bigger screen. The sharp edges are also a good dust collector.

What I found missing is also the camera button – so for shutterbugs, you have to use the touch screen controls (no biggies but I still found it more intuitive to use a camera button given my previous experience with Sony devices)

The ports for USB and SIM tray are hard to identify, compared to other ports. The reason is because there are no indications where these ports are, despite markings for earphones and SD card. The last thing to not like about this is that the SIM tray is not easy to use. You won’t know which side to insert, top or bottom, if you missed or forgot the instructions.
The speaker is weirdly positioned and soft.

Conclusion
I like the device, even for my preferences on the hardware side. Overall, the speed and stability of the user experience is a vast improvement from my previous Xperia devices.

Has they improved the wifi signal strength on Xperia Z?

Guys, anyone facing problem where Xperia Z connecting to Wifi will cause modem/router to repeatedly restart?

Everytime my Xperia Z connects to my wifi at home, it will restart every 30mins to 1hr. Very annoying, my friend who bought the HP together with me is experiencing the same thing. We're both using Singtel for internet.

I have a similar problem on my Singtel fibre, but its not related to XZ. I got it even before XZ. Thought it was my iPad since the new iOS release.
