At 21 months, I re-contracted my iphone3gs for a free xperia z. (my plan quite high).
I was upset at first cos the wanted to charge me for the micro-sim card. Quite dumb really. I spend so much on my plan, yet they want to charge me for the card saying it is audited and they cannot anyhow waive the charges.
(waive was denied at 112 Katong Singtel authorised dealer, and at Parkway Parade singtel shop).
Finally I went to Singtel at their comms center HQ. Got it. Waived. A hassle but i didn't pay for the switch from regular sim card to micro-sim card.

Quite happy with my xperiaZ. Going swimming with it and I even took water shots when showering, when washing plates at the sink.
best is when I go public toilet wash my phone cos a lot of fingerprints. All blur. How come phone can wash.

Shiok. Nice screen. Clear pictures.
Love it max.

The time/petrol/effort to 3 places is worth the free sim at $20+?

Lol...

Last time when Singtel still giving out vouchers, and I noticed there's always price diff between the prices from singtelshop and online purchase, so squeeze the vouchers from them that way.

Then can also try to ask to talk to the manager in charge of customer retention.

If timing is right, can also renew at newly opened shop, as they may have opening promos here and there. Got a set of cashcard, besides the e-vouchers, coz of that.

Coz I'm on mio plan, so got to do it every year, ritual lar.

But your 1st line song nia. The rest of your lines 12 months early recon is flat $350 regardless iphone or non iphone purchase previously...

I couldn't convince them to waive the SIM card fully, only got 2 mths waiver for recontract, and 20 buck discount for sim...

Seriously they forcing us to pay for SIM card which we don't need is really too much.
Somemore being a long time cust, previous SIM cards are all free lei.

I thought only Starhub is being nasty lately, seems like every telco is trying hard to squeeze every penny from us when the current local market is more or less saturated.

I made a post last month about Starhub wanting to charge me for the microSIM. they told me to find someone else to cut the existing MiniSIM if I don't want to pay. I actually have the SIM cutter but(correct me if I'm wrong) a new SIM is required to support the LTE network. so basically they trying to tell me, pay $30+ for a new SIM or make the LTE feature useless on my new XZ.

They were really firm, sort like take it or leave it, we don't care. fed up, came back, call 1633 to demand a clear explanation. 10 minutes later, they told me card fee will be waive. somehow Starhub shop always have sucky service than their CSO on the phone, even the manager isn't better. that's why I always order online and ask them to deliver to my house. the M7 I ordered online just a week ago had the microSIM handed to me without a fuss. :)

There is no need to change your 3g/h sim to lte as it is just a service add on to your plan only.

I would not wait anymore, just end my contract and jump ship depending on which other telcos have better offers.

they promise the process will be faster: Sony details the Android 4.3 process; promises faster upgrade times | Xperia Blog

don't hold your breath though

They may roll out faster updates since 4.3 is not major update (KLP).
But maybe older (2012) models will wait longer, if there are news of updates to 4.3.

Hopefully they update my TX. :D

Agree. To think the sim card is the telco's way of making money from us. Once we have sim card, we make phone call, sms, data... if never control, have to even pay extra on top of monthly subs. So this cheap card device should be free.

Everybody got their way to bleed back from telco. Why not. Customer's market. Don't be suckers and buy into their sales tactics.
Be firm. Be strong. If you don't 'need' a product, it's only a 'want' to control.

I see, thanks for the info.

Yes. I'm still using my 3g sim card. Cut it myself to micro sim. Just use normal scissors.

Tried that once, follow a YT vid step by step, the card became useless...got to pay to get a new one from telco. bought a SIM cutter, solve it once and for all--until SIM card obsolete that is.:s13:
