This is the photo of the Hill Street Centre. It had a food court on ground floor.
It was closed in 2000 and demolished in 2002.

The patriarch of the Hill Street Tai Hwa Pork Noodles had a stall there.
I ate there and it was delicious.
None of the present stalls in Crawford + Hong Lim can match.

There's also food stalls on the 2nd level iirc. Used to park there, grab a meal before heading to Funan and Adelphi.

For almost 20 years, the gov demolished a good building to plant grass.

South Asia Computer Store.

the couple who used to run it quite nice.

but nice-ness don't run businesses. The business runs u down.
What happened to PK? The salesger there was quite chio, but the prices were competitive like South Asia too.

Few years later, they demolished the Hill Street building opposite.
Is that the hawker center that the bridge linked to next to fire station? Got some nice food. The library there also used to have nice food at the coffeeshop at the open air carpark. Then there was the char kway teow near the Malaysian Embassy. All gone.

Those game shops with the beng salesmen playing games used to be a thing. They're usually quite good at it. You could watch them play and if it happened to be a game u were stuck at u can see exactly how they clear the level. Dat was an era without walkthrus.

those era was the pre-internet era....in the very early 90s.....
is the modem era , cos u go online charge by phone bill per minute one.. so u go online find gamefaqs and the like also troublesome and costly.. so the walkthrough books still got some selling power

cos load picture also very long that time even with internet.. see like this guide book so clear pictures..

used to eat potatoes and yogurts at this place, opened by a friend. can't remember when this was taken - should be early 1990s.

Bought my first PC there. An ARIS 286.

I remember the yellow fluorescent lighting. Made the shops look so dark. Tons of pirated diskettes. We had to wait for the shop to photocopy the 300+ pages of a game manual. :ROFLMAO:

Yes, that's the building.
I believed URA feels the building is an eyesore in the city area, thus the demolition.

Even the hawker center at Empress Place or Satay Club in the surrounding area got demolished.
