Hi all, a few questions:
  • Is the below listed issue the case for anyone here at all?
"The phone is really nice in terms of components and comfort of use, but it has one drawback (which can be corrected in software), but OnePlus have been completely ignoring it for some time now. We're talking about a 1-2 second delay when switching to other apps from the background. Unfortunately, I tried two units of this phone, but the error was so irritating that I had to give up on it. This completely destroys the smoothness of the system..."

  • Newbie question too, I see recommendations for the following shops :
Sally, vee gadgets, hazel tech - shopee
Laaaaashop, code-one - lazada
I notice the following shop from Lazada is selling the cheapest now :
Is it legit?

  • Also, can I ask what is the difference between Global Rom, Model numbers etc?
For example, looking at the item from Sally, it states the model is Model Number: CPH 2581. Which as I understand is the global version?
Is there any difference between that and what others have stated to be "china set flashed with global ROM".

global rom means international os. model number depends on country of production, e.g hong kong set has different model number from india set. the only time it might make any difference is when you receive ota update notification. some regions will receive it afew weeks earlier which is not much diffreence considering the rollout is usually very slow to ensure no bugs

Thank you. so far whichever the place of manufacture does not seem to matter much? i.e. none with QC issues?

Separately, could I ask which screen protector you guys are using for your Oneplus 12?

don't think there are any stats for qc issues, but from history there isn't any specific region set that had issues. if 1 have issue the rest normally have also.

i also believe they are all produced in china same factory, the region is mainly for law compliance and LTE bands, but most phones support almost all bands anyway

i using default protector, lazy to change but the gel thingy can get abit annoying, still prefer glass

- for me its not an issue, but could be subjective for everyone

- Momo shld be legit, as people have posted purchase reviews already. Just go with the recommended shops and whichever are the cheapest with coupons.

- Global Rom is OxygenOS, which is preinstalled in actual international units. I have said before, China units model numbers are actually all base model PJD110 as indicated on the physical box, regardless they are flashed global rom or not.

When they are used to flash to global rom, it changes the model number only in software to correspond to the rom base its flashed to, i.e CPH2573 India, CPH2581 GLO/EU, CPH2583 NA. 99% of Lazada/Shopee reputable sellers are all selling China-flash-global rom units, and only the official store sells actual international(and SG IMDA approved) sets with local 2 years warrenty. The local sets are the actual CPH2581 sets.
Reason why most of us "ditch" local sets this time round is due to price. CN sets are way cheaper, has white color, and has lower base storage of 256GB while local is only 512GB. Price wise, imagine a CN 1TB with coupons sell cheaper than local 512GB. Also, CN 256GB was lowest at ard $620 during 6/6, which at that price can buy 2 CN at the price of 1 512GB local.
Only thing to take note buying CN-flash-global sets is the lack of e-sim on the hardware level, only 2 physical sims. The "function" is present in the flashed global software but there will never be any functionality due to the above mentioned.

nah, will take OP12 china set with global flashed rom anytime anyday.

Way better specs and at cheaper price point. Realme is thinking too much to price GT6 at $799

True, true. Hopefully still can get OP12 with promo 600. Because if as selling price now 7xx, it is abt the same price as GT6

I'm not so much a spec guy as my phone mainly use for web browse and some youtube. Only have 1 game (lord mobile) in my phone and no high expectation on picture quality (similar with my S21FE will do). For me, battery life is my main priority and Os stability

What GT6 attract me is abt equally same battery life but with 2 Years Official SG Local Warranty. Malaysia selling "local set" GT6T which is about SGD670. I do think battery life about the same as GT6

2. Upcoming Oppo Reno 12
3. Upcoming Honor 200

Thanks for the recommendation. I did check on Honor 200 and Poco F6 earlier, they are shorter in battery

Poco F6 (10:36hrs)
Honor 200 (11hrs)
GT (14:32hrs)

Will check into Reno 12

Thank you, that was very helpful.

Separately, can I check if anyone experienced any heating issues? Have read some comments about uncomfortable temps with prolonged gaming or even photo/video taking.
