but this does seem like a good time to look for an upgrade. this generation of chipsets from qualcomm and mediatek both got pretty massive improvements over the previous gen, which was already quite good. what used to be a very demanding game that most phones can't run well, genshin, can now easily run smoothly at higher render resolution without heating up too much. plus this year most CN phones i think will use higher density batteries already like OP13 with 6,000mAh. that plus better efficiency will help the phones last a lot longer. and with these 2 factors, small and powerful phones with minimal compromises are now doable too. will be an interesting year for phones.Dec 2023 launched, SG in Feb 2024.. Cannot flash on our own is due to locked bootloader, not region lock. If user knows the way about it then go ahead. The region lock solution is correct, though.

I think what consumers are really interested is whether i bring my phone go out, can it really last a day with heavy usage without the need of power bank.

haha. doubt so la. that denser battery has been around half a year liao. since vivo started using them in x fold 3 and then in a bunch of iqoo phones too like Z9 series. so far haven't heard anything crazy from Chinese users.
i think i happened to read this article yesterday. it kinda says even though cpu get more and more efficiency every year, it doesn't translate that battery can last you longer. it might be the same or even lower even though battery capacity improved. Maybe the efficiency improvement was used to improve on "A.I features" for oneplus or require more "power" for their ultrasonic fingerprint scanner and hence for end user like us can't really tell a difference. it's not a "requirement". it's just that new battery tech that allow denser batteries in a similar size... if anything the bigger capacity battery + more efficient chip will bring noticeably longer battery life than last gen flagship. there are a ton of info and reviews out there already.

there may be band difference besides esim. also flash comes only with shop warranty vs official 2 years warranty.
Don't attempt it yourself ba. Now flashing isn't as straight forward as before. And with the region lock in place, makes the entire process even more tedious.I see.. Thank you for your advice.
