y did IDA choose opennet?

to think sg want to promote good customer service...

this opennet has one of the worse case real life example that majority of us will encounter first hand...

wanting good customer services but the example of choosing open net has totally failed

What service? Its only a physical wiring on a one-off time thing

Why OpenNet? The main advantage is the un-necessary need to wait until 2016 before fiber TP began installing/service commence.

Hmmmmmm, i see i see.

What issues?

Singtel came to install twice and both times the ONT box light keep blinking, call opennet guy to check and he say my signal is good and is not my FTP box issue so wait for feedback from opennet.

Waited for 1 mth and last week I call opennet and they say have to wait for another 2 to 4 weeks more. Ridiculous! How long they want me to have no internet in my new house. :s22:

i saw ppl saying put TP in hall then run cable to room for wired connection. Lets say if ur home plug in hall and in room, how does it fair as compared to cable? looks wise, u dun hv the trucking problem. but maybe wired speed is still better.

i am installing this sat and still considering hall or room.

Today, two Indian contractors came to my place to lay opennet cables. Apparently, one of the contractors gave a rough estimation that it will take about 20metres to lay the cable from the door all the way to my living room. He say that there will be about $33 subcharge for addition of 5metres. My mum and I are agreeable for the charges but the contractor suggested that he could give us a "wavier" as long as a "tip" is given. My mum decided to give them $20 to lay the cables. Just wondering, did anyone also encounter something like this before?

got measure urself? maybe they overquoted other ppl on paper and the left overs excess used to patched ur extra and earn the tip themself.

Too bad you never monitor them. The length of cable is listed on the outer pvc jacket itself. However, you can still use a measuring tape and do tracing to find the estimated length.

Eh, paying "tip" is also known as bribery in this case, don't do it again next time:s22:
I know it's cheaper to pay the so called tip, but if you get caught, not worth it.

Wah, now they contractors now only famous for forcing people to install in living room, also taking bribes/possibly cheating people!

Measure what is the actual length using measuring tape, follow the trunking from TP to door.

If its not 20M, they cheated you/your mother of $20.

If its really 20M, they accepted a bribe and cheated opennet of extra cables.

Whichever it is, if you have their names and report them, they are in big trouble. But you also got no prove of the extra $20 paid and you could get in trouble for "bribing" them in the first place. :s13:

I was at Hello shop yesterday and noticed that there's 2 lan cables from 2 x 2Wire modem router connected to the ONT.

Does that means, we are allow to connect 3 more modems from ONT?

Just wondering if it is meant to be, since there's 4 ports from there.

For x number of ports you want to use, must have x number of subscription. If you only have 1 connection service, then ONLY 1 port will be activated

Does that means, Singtel/M1/SH subscription?
But the fibre point consists of 2 only tho.

Please enlightened me.

Yes and no.
Different RSP had their last mile active network handled by various OpCo whom all issues their own set of ONT.

To have more than 1 port provisioned for use. All involved RSP service must be serviced by the same opco for you to use only a single ONT.
