Having my Opennet installation next week, but due to important visitors at work, I don't think I would be able to take leave and stay at home to supervise the installation. I'd like to put in some large trunking, would they be able to route the fibre cable inside (with or without their own trunking)? Also, there are some turns in the wall (ie right angled turns), how would they route the cables in this case? (so I can conceal their cable under my larger trunking).

Can u pls PM me ur contractor's name & contact?

$400 for 2 points like quite ex leh. Wonder if this is considered market rate or not. My TV & pc table r at opposite corner of the room so i was hoping to have 2 points near TV & 2 near pc. If so ex i guess have to be one point each liao.

Come to think of it, is it cos conceal in false celing dats y so ex? I wonder if ask him to set up a conduit for the cat 6 cables & my existing starhub cables & phone wire will b cheaper or not.

The $400 also included labor for concealing the fibre optic cables in addition to concealing the CAT6 cable. CAT6 cable provided by me and it cost $1 per meter.

Yes I opted for it to be concealed in false ceiling for all but 5% where it was impractical to do so. The distance of the wiring was also significant so perhaps it contributed to the cost. I noted there was obstacles inside the false ceiling so they had to hack alternative route to push the wires to the other point.

I cannot advise on your situation. Best to approach contractor as he has expertise in this.

Where the 2 cat6 cables go to btw.

the cat6 socket, is it a switch?

Nope. It's a backbone CAT6 network that simply runs from the room(containing the TP) to the living room about 30m away.

My network plans is to have the TP & ONT at the room, RG at the living room for wireless network and future cable TV consideration, and finally a route back to the room to provide internet connectivity to the PC.

They will be providing their own trunking, or you can instruct them to use ur existing trunking if its big enough.

if my understanding of FTTH is correct, sld be the signal loss of each of the respecting wavelength from the input source. cos each time u splice a fiber and join back, there will always be a loss. (i.e. not as perfect as a single continuous length of optic fiber)

Yes, after doing some research, my signal loss is about 20%. Not as good as some people getting 10% but also not as bad as some getting 30%. Guess have to make do with it !

You have to call Opennet's hotline tel. no. 65634273 from 9am.-6pm. (Mon-Sat.) and tell the CSO that you didn't receive the letter.

Check your coverage now in opennet. If your place still under installing stage, you can call opennet to schedule a date and time.

If not, see your luck. My friend have to wait and pay for the installation which is 2-3 months later.

Okie.. I just went to opennet website and noted that my area is ready for nextgen network.. Looks like they have already finished the installation in my block.

Anyone manage to get them do the installation for foc even after they are done with ur block?

If not how much is the cost?

Sigh.. Wat a luck..

The installation of TP will be chargeable at S$220(before gst) for the first 15 metres of cable, inclusive of the termination point.

Just made an appt with ON today.

Just wanna ask, so there will be two appts (one with ON, one with Singtel) to get everything up right, ON will install TP, then Singtel install ONT and RG?

If i install the TP in my living room when ON comes, can i ask Singtel to do trunking from the ONT in my living room to the RG which i wanna place in my room cos my mio tv and desktop all there and i dont wanna use wireless?

TIA :)

Why don't you install the TP in your room instead of living room? For me, I had already installed my TP in my master bedroom.

Yeah that is the other way.. Just thinking of possible alternatives and wondering if any bros here have other experiences to share haha..

Just wondering, cos apparently singtel will provide free trunking to 1 pc and the mio box in the house from the ONT.. Anyone can confirm?

Hmm.. Geforce you made use of the singtel trunking yourself?

So if like that means:

[Living Room]: TP > ONT > RG>>>>(trunking into room)>>>>PC & Mio Tv

Am i right?

Just got my TP installed today. Saw there was light coming out from the TP while contractor was doing testing. I just did some rewiring myself, is there anyway to check if I damaged the wires? My singtel installation going to be in about 2 to 3 weeks' time.

You have to wait for one month for opennet to do backend testing for your home to be fibre-ready and then you can contact Singtel to subscribe for fibre-broadband.
