Can but like others mention check if there is support for the new socket.
As well as check if the temp are OK as well as any noise.
If you have done any cleaning to the old AIO opt to do maintenance for it.

Get air duster from Challenger and brush away all the dust on the unit.

How do I check temps? I super lost touch man.. just use comp play simple games and do work..

Typically should fall around 40 - 50 degrees.
However if temp are very high than might need to change.

Guys can you please recommend a PSU? I'm aiming for 3070, or 3080 now..

Also any reliable person can help assemble? I know PC care is a good shop but SLS is far.. what's a fair amount to pay to assemble and install OS?

Fuwell, PCThemes etc. are shops for assemble, home wise I don't know.
PSU wise either Seasonic Focus GX or Corsair.

super flower is another good psu manufacturer. tradepac offers the legion gx pro 650w for just over $100, quite worth imo and should be enough for 3070 or 3080.

Hi Senpai, 前辈, all buddies and fellow enthusiasts,

My 3770k DIY PC is 8 - 9 years old now and mobo is dying, so I've been reading various threads in HW clinic to pick up the latest knowledge as I plan to start a new build.

I need your guidance and help with the below questions, I'm really a newbie, this is going to my 2nd DIY PC and the 1st was assembled by Nigel from PC Care. So here goes...

1. Already preordered 12700k + Aorus Pro Z690 bundle. Do I need a separate soundcard? Currently using a ROG Formula mobo, quite happy with the sound quality.

2. DDR5 Ram... aiming for 2 x 16.. out of stock everywhere.. what to do ah?

3. GPU - reusing 980TI as I am seldom gaming nowadays. Would this be a problem?

4. Case - Should I get factual design meshify or define?

5. SDD - what's the better brand/deal to get now? Looking to get 2 x 1TB and reuse all my old 2.5 SSDs

6. Cables - what doesn't come with above and I need to get separately?

7. AIO or Cooler? What to buy?

1) No need sound card as there is onboard sound card on mobo.

2) Wait for it. I am too waiting for it since I preorded 12900K + the same mobo as yours

3) Not a problem if you just use for basic stuff like streaming movie and playing simple game

4) Get a casing that offer good airflow. I understand that the alder lake chip set quite hot.

5) nowadays nvme is getting cheaper. can give it a shot since it more compact and save space

6) if U got a new PSU, pretty much all is covered by the PSU cable unless u doing more fan or rgb blonk, then customised might be needed.

7) AIO is a good investment but costly and limited now due to it new chipset design. OOS now unless there is AIO holder for z690 mobo that able to fit existing AIO .. you can use back any AIO.

Sorry... got a bit lost with the discussion... AIO = all-in-one? Are there such things for you to assemble?

Cos I am looking to replace my desktop with a small compact unit a bit like the Mac Mini type... I understand there are barebones and other such units but they seem really expensive... would an AIO be something like that? Small and compact?

I plan to use windows 11 for my new PC.. Question is.. Can I reuse my original windows 10 CD key? When keying in the current product key to windows 11.. do I need to make sure I have formatted the OS drive in my current rig first?

windows key can now tie to your MS account. just register one MS account while you at win10 i guess so

license is tie to motherboard and hardware.
my work i always install windows, so if the system got license like hp/dell already factory pre-register, and login internet, ms will issue directly.
other system, last year, ms still give free win 10 license then suddenly stop.

1) Both rig cannot be used at the same time with the same CD key.
2) Should work just enter Win 10 key, no need call MS hotline to activate.
