Anyone has PPE preparatory notes (Mechanical) from IES to share?
Hi, any PPE notes for mechanical engineering to share? Those who had passed the PPE mind to share the experience of how to prepare for PPE for mechanical engineering?
Hi, did you manage to get the PPE notes?

Hi young Engineers, I am a QP Elect. Happy to provide some quick advise or reply for any future PE (Elect) if you need help.
Do you have any advise for getting LEW grade 8? i.e. What is tested, interview questions etc, other general advise important for a Grade 8

SS638: earthing system, design for C&I project, energization/de-energisation. If you are keen, SIPG offers LEW8 prep course for both theory and practical.

End of the day, what is most important is your confidence. Try your best to relate to your own experience as EMA's interviewers are seasoned pax: if they sniff out any uncertainty in your answers they will grill you like crazy and try their best to make you doubt yourself.

Reason is that the process is designed to filter out all those they deem as undeserving of the license: the default outcome is failure. Its only when they deem that you know your stuff satisfactory then they will grudgingly pass you.

Yep, I wanted to take the SIPG course but, I need to wait till February 2025. Initially wanted to take earlier like around July as I have just hit the requirement if minimum one year of experience.

I heard now the passing requirements for the theory part has changed. You need to score 75% to pass before you can proceed to the interview. Also, i heard they will be grilling people for good 2hrs. Just worried they may shoot questions that I may not have the work experience with. Probably can make educated guesses but, don't know if that would be a right thing to do during the interview.

I happened to have another question for anyone who have applied for Electrical Professional Engineer.
I had worked under a practicing certified PE for a year, how will PEB verify that? For example, I have work for X company for 1 year under a certified Elec PE. I then worked for another year under Y company another Elec PE. Maybe I happened to change job again working under Z company but has no Elec PE. In that case, would I be able to apply for PE with only my current employer (Z company) Stamp and Chop? Or I need to find my previous employers for their stamp/approval? (Assuming I have already passed FEE and PPE and have hit the 4 years of Practical experience)

From what I have read and understood from the PEB requirements. It seems that I just need to work an aggregate of 2 years under a practicing certified Elec PE. Coupled with total of 4 years relevant work experience in SG. I just need to get my current employer to stamp for me would be good enough. All this to be included in post-grad summary experience.

You can PM me for my notes.

Unfortunately, educated guesses will not get you far as the EMA interviewers themselves are LEWs, and there is also no benefit whatsover for them to increase competiton for themselves🙃

In fact, the entire interview is recorded such that in case anything happens, it can be played back as evidence during investigation if something goes wrong under your watch🧐

Remember, as a LEW, you are licensed individual, similar to that of medical doctors and lawyers, hence, you will be held to a higher standard and scrutinised accordingly. There is no room for guessing as it is a matter of life and death💀

Sounds like you are planning ahead. Curious why you are going for LEW8 and not 9? You can just find your current employer to endorse you, it will be good enough liao.

Okay will PM you.

Understand. I mean for questions likes for example like "Why use busduct instead of cable?" Intuitively or educated guesses would be due to lower voltage drop, higher ampacity. If EMA asked "Can a G7 do switching for 100A boards?" I would probably answer, I don't know, will consult a competent/skilled person or a G8/G9 for confirmations. Just examples.

G9 I need to wait quite long for the interview, by then I estimate that it may take another 2 years after I obtain PE. So get G8 first, so would have better career opportunity and experience too. Plus, I have no expectation that I would pass G8 on first try. Fail already need wait for another 6 months too. Probably getting G9 only if I feel my concept and understanding for 22kV system is rock solid. I estimate it may take me about 3 years after G8.
