Anyone playing using the TYH edition? The box stated the region "ALL" instead of either R1/R3, wonder the US Jap dlc will work on this version?

I think Since PS4 is region free the games usually come with that sign now. But DLC is still region locked.

So I assume that using R1 account download the jap dlc and play on my R3 account will work for this?

Can't really wait to start the game already, today I will finish last boss on Berseria and will probably start P5 tomorrow...and the R3 store yet to have the jap dlc up to now...

Hi there, i`m using R1 disc with Jap DLC (downloaded with my R1 account) but playing on my R3 account, it should work for you too :)

Now i`m just waiting for R3 store to update the DLCs (skills, difficulty and healing items) to try and install it to my R1 Disc. Hope it works as i prefer to spend SGD than USD for future purchasables

R3 phy copy I think is PLAS.
Often the physical copy of R3 has a different code printed on the cover even on the disc itself, but that's just a different label, down in the binary level it may the same product ID as US version. (I have a physical copy of R3 NFS Rivals and that's what I noticed. But R3 save works on R1 digital game, R1 DLC works on R3 phy, R3 DLCs work on R1 digital game.)

A most accurate way to check is, after playing the R3 physical version (or any version), copy out the saved files to USB, then plug into a PC. Look at the folder ps4>savedata>[16 chars code for your psn account]>[product ID]. You can check the product ID from the folder name there.

I think Since PS4 is region free the games usually come with that sign now. But DLC is still region locked.
DLCs are not really region locked. An add-on only works on the exact base it adds on to. It's a complete bundle, you buy a game in R2, you buy everything for that game in R2. Some reasons like Chinese DLC should only works on Chinese game; some games may be censored or modified in another region, so a DLC wouldn't be applicable. Also, in the distant past, there is a difference between video output standards (PAL vs NTSC).

More importantly, one needs to understand how big multi-national companies work. Sony has different regions, so each one has its own annual financial objectives. Thus as a result, each will have its own version of the same products, at their own prices. If you buy R2, Sony lets you play it on any region Playstation and account (thus 'region free'). They are already letting the regions compete with each. But if you buy R2, the sale goes into R2 region's financials, so should subsequent DLC sales. It's a complete package. And of cos often decisions come from game publishers too.

R3 sometimes is compatible with R1 or R2, that's either publishers or Sony Asia is lazy and just duplicate from another region. Asia is like a b@stard child of Japan that speaks a different language, Japan doesn't care about Asia, other regions don't care either cos it's not their business. So Asia just take whatever leftover.

Hi,

Sorry to ask this as it's a bit confusing for me. So for Persona 5, what's the difference except for the cost between all the region? As in any difference in gameplay etc...? I'm quite unsure of which region of this game should I get. Thanks

Gameplay is the same. Only difference is the game DLC region, and the box. Only R1 and R2 comes with steelbook (Slightly different design too due to the logo), R1 got the CE edition, while R3 only comes with standard edition.

Seems like once again Asia PSN screw up again. They are now discussing with Atlus to release DLC for our region. (They posted it on their facebook)

I doubt all the blame falls on Asia PSN. Ultimately the decision whether to offer certain content in any region falls to the game publisher/developer. Atlus probably doesn't give a f*** about R3 customers.

Tons of examples. Borderlands 2, we bot the season pass on Asia psn, but the first DLC only got released 1 whole f*ing month after other regions. This practically killed the game for us as the momentum was lost, co-op partners moved on to other games already. There are many many more examples of how Asia psn sux like that.

And it's not just a couple of small publishers, even Sony's own games are like that too. DLCs are either not released in Asia at all, or only come much later after ppl complained and complained. (Just consider this, Sony has been selling their PS wireless headsets for a long time in Asia, but the companion app needed to customise the headset was not available on Asia psn. It's only after ppl kept complaining that after TWO YEARS then they put it on Asia psn.)

The only DLCs you will see a lot of in Asia psn are the musou games and fighting games -- say there is 1 new DLC costume or whatever, multiply that by number of chars, multiply by number of platforms (ps4, ps3, vita), multiply by languages (JP, CH, EN), so every few weeks when they milk with another wave of DLCs, you practically see like 200 new DLCs dumped onto the Asia store.

I doubt all the blame falls on Asia PSN. Ultimately the decision whether to offer certain content in any region falls to the game publisher/developer. Atlus probably doesn't give a f*** about R3 customers.
As above. It's not just Atlus. There are many many examples of such crap from Asia psn, even many of Sony's own products. I'd say Asia PSN doesn't give a f* about R3 customers.
