My PRC previous neighbour got do PV for NCPS. Not sure if they get in. If get in, need to charter school bus.

No need for guesswork. I have pulled out the data.

For 2023, its 114 Singaporeans living within 1km balloting for the 45 slots for phase 2b for NCPS.

Since you mentioned your neighbour is PRC and need to charter school bus, chances is statistically zero.

Mk = moe kindergarten. That entitles the child to try for phase 2A.

I tried applying for PV to a popular school after being pressurised by my wife. Staying within 1km. I'm born and raised here. I have a decent job. School replied that my volunteer application was rejected. Wife still wants to try for 2C even when statistics show there is only a 30% chance for success.

I have quarreled with her so regularly on this issue of school selection that we have come close to divorcing. She wants a top 5 school despite being Malaysian and never having spent a single day of her education here. I told her to be realistic because I was brought up in this system and I'm not a gambler. But ultimately we will still try for 2C as she wants, because the last thing I want is a broken home for my daughter.

Why do some people not want kids? Partly because of stress like this.

Today I got the result. My boy didn’t get in to Sengkang Green Pri sch under phase 2A. I’m super upset and depressed and angry. The thought of it still made me agitated . It does not mean that what you sow, you will reap especially in sinkie.

of not wrong this year 2A has lesser slots, the deduced slots went to 2C to give more chances for those on distance based.....

my kid is registering this year and when i was inquiring MOE on the distance thing i found out something shocking to me ...

if people want to game the 1km thing , as long as their IC address reflects that , it can be used to gain the advantage.

then i thought to myself, why there is no underground market for people selling their address for a fee to abuse this ?

say for example, in the hdb block next to a popular school. a family of 3 or DINKS can get paid maybe $2000 to let another family tag their nric address to theirs without moving in , just so they can use the address. It can even be under the pretense that i am staying in my friend / relative house.

you may say , oh government subsidies or handouts might be affected by the number of headcount in a flat but these are small amounts compared to what kiasu parents are willing to do to get their children into a "good" school , they will be more then willing to top up that few hundred dollars.

In the past , i see the news always say MOE want to prevent abuse of this distance base registration to make it fair and i just take it as face value cause i didn't really look too deep into it but it doesn't seem like it ...

Which is correct. Alot of people already complain Phase 2A is the most unfair and most gamed. Should be scrapped.

No affliation. Here got no primary school affiliated to any sec school.

true blue merit based entry. Rather than backdoor by DSA or play affiliation hack.

Enter good sec school on basis of affiliation is just kicking the kid's primary school issue down to Sec 4 and "hope" the kid will "wake up in time".

Enter good sec school on basis of DSA is backdooring your way and if the kid's PSLE COP is more than 10% of the lowest COP, can prepare to buy coffin for him liao. Cos confirm the child cannot cope + commit to the CCA he'd committed to doing for the next 4 or 6yrs.

She's only 4 yo now. The battle for a place starts 3 years before actual primary one so if you're having a kid do take note... Schools all have different parent volunteer application dates, have to camp their website for when it's open because the window is short.

4 years old is the best time
Depends you want a SAP school or those others.

Generally pv application starts when your kid is 5 years old and address matters, if you need to move house to be 1km from that school, you will need to start searching when your kid is 4.

Secondly for SAP schools - 80 hours of pv + 1km is needed as basic requirements

If you are using grassroots, you need to apply when your kid turns 3 so you get ample time for the 6 month probation (excluded from minimum service years) not all estates have spaces for grassroots as well.

Overall see you want to work hard to get to the school of your choice or not... We basically wanted the school next door as well for convenience and logistics. (it is a non affiliated school and not branded). But will still ballot at 2C,we didn't want the risks. So we did the grassroots method. And we succeeded.

You can move but have to ensure 2C1km sure in.

2A is for Moe kindy students and unfortunately almost every student aiming too lor.

Sibeh sian one. Those without kids please keep your comments to yourself. You wont know how parents feel. We just want a school next door not even branded.

Yes, but there will be upcoming 2nd Best Choice school nearby. Always must have Plan B schools. Anyway there is another Phase for same school right? Every school has an “A” class, I have seen. Even Universities have non-Science streaming!

I would ask Cotton Chan to advise the Mission Schools to build branch schools
near Punggol Digital District where the youngsters are moving there for future employments!
