Do knw that Pioneer still in great demand and i also dun expect them to drop to dirt cheap price. Just hope they still ard when I have the $$$.

it will not be the best forever. in certain areas, it is already showing its age. it's still the leader probably this year. next year, surely u'll see better models. Technology moves just so fast.

Top end Panasonic or Samsung plasmas are comparable. wait for the V10, it is beauty.

I disagree and they are still behind Pio in my eyes. I have 428 and never looked back and if I were to purchase another unit as of now what is available, buy another pio plasma whether 428, 528 or krp. I drop into shops once a week to see what is new and compare with pio those still have in stock and still my eyes says pio is better in overall especially colour which looks more real and natural.

One more thing. a saleman suggest me to buy samsung series 4 with 3D at the time of purchase but didn't convince me at all. Recently I was looking at same screen, so glad didn't listen to sales guy! It was so pixelated and just couldn't handle the moving pictures.

Is the Pio 428XG quality worth twice C10? Up to individual to decide.
My wallet protests.
Missed the Pio showroom unit at IMM in March. $1699 IIRC. I asked for extended
warranty which was denied.
Got a Samsung 42A410 over Panny PV8. Now contemplating C10 for another room.

Of course it is not worth twice the C10, but I rather get a better one if it is within my reach. Those, audio or videophiles, are willing to pay twice the amount to get a 10~20% SQ or PQ improvement. The satisfaction is key factor and can enjoy watching/listening longer.
Been looking at 508xg and now price is more attractive. Again, in my eyes 508xg is better than 428 even though both are hd ready. I just see something more in details and better saturation in colours especially in skin tone!

Bought PV8 for my mum in law and it is ok for what I paid but after comparing wtih my 428, they are in a different class of its own.

Yeah really agree with tat, this days technology is really moveing way too fast. But for now, my eyes is set on Pionner, but if the budget still does not permit then I have to go for Panasonic.

Yes the key word is SATISFACTION!

Each time when I go to HN, Courts or BD, I just can't help to stay a little bit longer in front of the Pioneer TV.

Totally Agree with PetetheRock. Pioneer is still the best. Which areas has it shown its age already? There is none yet. Even in the UK where V10 is available, Pioneer is the favourite.

It make sense for Pioneer to maintain this price as the demand is high as no other TV comes close yet. They still have stock and are in no hurry to clear stock and sell low since demand is high. To say that Pioneer wanting them to rot in the warehouse is illogical. Comparing TV to cars... you got to be kidding right?

I think it is not pioneer want their tv to rot in the warehouse. Courts is dealer, dealer purchase high cost price from pionner, do you want court to sell below their cost price ?

Unless courts facing cash flow problem. Unless they stock up too many pionner tv and it has not been selling a single pc per month, taking alot space in the show room, then maybe they will consider lelong away. But quite impossible.

caveat emptor: make sure your source also is the best. if you watch DVD9 quality or higher, or HDTV, you'll enjoy your Pioneer.

Best Pioneer plasma in the world also can't make the ordinary cable TV channels with lousy source look good.

so what happened to your Pioneer warranty? it is still in 3 years. i believe u bought it at that time for some money! selling for 180 is not worth it.

Just wanna ask a quick qn: in light of the fact that Pioneer is discontinuing producing/selling plasma and kuro plasma tvs, what are the risk involved in getting one now? For example, after sale support, parts, repair, warranty, etc.

Becuase I want to get a Plasma for my next tv (since I already have an LCD - want to try plasma and reading form here, Pioneer is the best it seems).

3 years down the road and TVs are having problems.
pioneer quality isn't so linear with its price tag either.
