When it comes to tv screen, BLACK is everything for best colour, contrast, details...
I hope and am sure some of you will agree on this.![]()
thanks !!!!running-in setting suggested at the Pioneer FAQ website:
http://www.pioneerfaq.info/english/plasmatv.php?player=Plasma-TV&question=Running_In
To summarise those running-in settings (items in bold are most important):
Main Menu:
AV Selection: User
Contrast: 15 to 20 (this is the killer bit for running in)
Brightness: -10 to 0 (lower is better, but it's your call as to what is reasonable to watch). Brightness should be set to the point where you can't see the pixels starting to emit light in dark parts of the image. Having brightness too high is unlikely to cause any issues during run in except make the image look washed out. Contrast is the killer not brightness.
Color: -10 to -5 (lower is better, but it´s your call as to what is reasonable to watch). Most people never go below -10.
Tint: 0
Sharpness: -9 to -3
Pro Adjust:
Pure Cinema: OFF (for progressive source) & STANDARD (for interlaced source)
Film Mode: ADV
Text Optimization: Off
Intelligence: Off
Picture Detail:
DRE Picture (Dynamic Contrast): OFF (very important)
Black Level: Off
ACL: Off
Gamma: 2
Color Detail:
Color Temp: MID-LOW or if you want to MID depending on preference for white balance (the default colour temp is very cyan)
CTI: Off
Color Space: 2
Other:
I-P Mode: 1
Noise Reduction:
3DNR: Off or Low
Field NR: Off
Block NR: Off
Mosquito NR: Off
Power Control:
Power Save Mode: Save 2
Play video games using the "GAME" mode (under AV Selection) for the screen, and try not to play them for more than a couple of hours at a time
why are prices for Pioneer plama's so high here? I am from Europe, and in the past all electronics were cheaper in Singapore by a good margin.
Now prices in general are similar to Europe (which has 19-25% GST included), but for Pioneer plasma's the price here is a lot higher than Europe AND the models are released later as well.
for example the new full HD 50" PDP-LX5090 cost in Europe equivalent to S$ 6500-7000 inclucing 19-25% GST. In singapore the OLD model 5080 is priced at S$ 15000...
The tv's are made in Japan and GST here is only 7% - why and how can they get away with these prices?
Last year i looked at the 42" Pioneer 428 which was priced close to S$ 4000 here - at the same time in Hong Kong the same tv cost S$ 2400...
Can anyone explain or guide me to where to buy at decent prices in Singapore?

Was at Best Denki at Vivo, they are selling Pioneer 5000EX at S$7999. Good deal right?!
You should compare the price with that of a new LX 508 before you decide.
I believe this model has no TV tuner, its just a monitor. No speakers either
Cheers
Is PDP-428XG the last 42" plasma from pioneer ?

oh..okYes it will be last 42" panel made by Pio. From 9G panels, Pio will use their own panels for 50" and above and 42" will be sourced from Panny if my memory is correct.
