anyone bought extended warranty from pioneer itself ? I didn't

does it mean parts and labour included during the period ? Ask Pio directly

wat if the tv is beyond repair ? You have to deal directly with the supplier or seller, depending on from whom you take out extended warranty

LX508

You can get the FD Pioneer LX508G for Aussie dollars 4,800 at HN there. Even if you convert to Sing $ it is only $6,000. Pay for courier it is still well below $7,000. Here they are selling at $11,000 best price. Not sure if warranty is worldwide though.

There was a time when TVs are much cheaper here than in Oz but the reverse is now true even with the Aussie dollar so much stronger. The new FD 509 is advertised for 2,600 sterilng RRP in the UK and I bet it will be much more expensive here. Something is wrong and we should all complain to Pioneer about the ridiculous pricing for their FD plasmas.

I am an expat from Aust. and yes we are getting ripped off in BIG times! That is why I settle for 428 knowing how much it costs back home even though I wanted LX508 badly. I don't think warranty is covered, but if you do sums, the difference should easily outweighs the repairing costs. If you are intend to shipping over here, make sure use a reputable shipper and nothing goes wrong during transit and on top of that you can claim 10% GST back too! Another bonus for Aust is that they get a free 5 years factory warranty and installation.

Now you can get LX608 for around A$8k or less! This shows how big fat margins they have.

I will buy 9G 60" panel when I go back to Sydney and hopefully still available.

the market size here is simply too small to run any proper business at lower cost...so...the cost pass down to the consumers.....

If that is the case, how come Singapore used to be cheaper and some of electornic items are still cheaper. I am sure you know how big Aust. is and imagine the logistic cost of delivery to all over from one port of either from Sydney or Melbourne to Perth and Darwin and Tasmania? Costs of labour is a lot higher there too.

At the launch of 8G, 508xd was retailed at ~A$6k if my memory serves me correct and now down to less than 3k, more than 50% drop! So the launch price is simply due to smaller market?

Your point does not hold water. If that is the case then all electronics should be more expensive But it is not. We are not talking a small difference but double the price here. If they price the FD 508 correctly you will find more will be sold. The reason it is not is because of the price. They want to make huge margins on it. Simple as that !

Agree, that is why 508 hd ready is completely sold out in Aust. Another point to make let retailers know that in Aust. among them, they do a price matching. So if you have a genuine quote from a store and they match the price unless it is below their cost price. Here, these practice seem doesn't exist.

well, my point is, in order to sustain the business here, they can't sell at low margin. And the ironic thing is, not a lot of people boycott pioneer despite the cutting throat price(for me it's because the image is not as clear compared to Samsung). So, why shall they be bothered about selling at lower price?

Panasonic is taking different approach, they cheong volume, and because they have a plant in SG too. Therefore, they are able to sustain the business although the unit margin is tiny.

some singaporeans just like that, they are suckers for being ripped off.....

Well I am watching all those channels and have not sctv. Quiet happy with the quality even though can be better with HD and don't see any justification for me to have cable tv as I watch dvds most of time.

Pioneer US Model and Spore Model Queries

Hi All..

thank God i stumble to this forum.. Can someone help me on this queries..

1) Which of the Pioneer KURO PDP-5020FD 50-Inch 1080p Plasma that is currently available in US is equivalent to Spore model?

2) Which of the Pioneer 428XG that is currently available in Spore is equivalent to US model?

I fall in love with 5020FD when i was in US but never got the chance to buy it. Well now in Spore would love to have this Model but not too sure which Spore model is the same as the 5020FD. Thanks!

Welcome to HWZ

We only have TWO full HD panels

The LX 508 or 608, 50 or 60"

The rest are 768p panels

Understand our prices are much higher and don't whine about that....
They also have less features, no in built digital tuners etc.

Cheers
