Unlikely.

Bro - can you take down the serial no of the unit and post it - in case they try and pass it off as new to others.

Cheers

Yup, agree with you. Will take down the s/n and post it later in the evening when I'm back home after work.

have a bit of a dilemma here. looking to buy the krp500a oso leh... i dun mind a 1 yr warranty and i dun really need a blue ray player, but it seems there isn't any to be had near that $3333 price anymore.

moving around march, so can wait a while for prices to drop, but dunno if the stock will just run out or not. dun really need the tv now also since my current place no space and concerned that will damage it when moving in march.

sian... should i go AH and try my luck and buy for that 4k price or just wait it out, hope for price drop and risk it? not sure if go AH still can get that 4k deal anyway...

unless you die die must buy the pioneer...
else if i were you, i would wait till my new house is ready then i try to re-look on the tv available then... there may be newer model out by then...

in the meanwhile, i will keep a look out on the price of the pioneer... it may or may not dropped further... it could even be out of stock, no more new stock, all left display set....
if it really happen, i would not lose sleep over it, just buy other tv brand....

i for one would not spend 4k to buy it and just left the tv in the box waiting for the new house to complete... it is the same as just leaving 4k on the table.

Where is the manufacturing month pasted at? If is at the rear, unlike i will unmount it to check on it.

AH is coming again on 4 jan to do a one to one exchange. And later the pioneer agent, to mount it.

Should be old stock la. Pioneer don't manufacture plasmas anymore. Does it matter new or old stock? Brand new never touch ok ma.

Sure it matter. If someone keep a good for 1 years and tell you never touch and good condition. Do you believe?

It is unlikely stock in aircond room right? and during the year. it may be move here and there even it was not opened before. So storage environment count.

For those get the year 2008 manufacturing date one. It has to be display set lah. So the price is not cheap anyway. More over you have to take a risk of warranty and spare part coverage from the agent as they are not more selling it.

You have made unsubstantiated claims in the past with no proof. You will need to post some evidence of this statement.

Just google and find the diagnostic devices to check power on time.
Or just look around in the market to see which brand is selling stock of more then 1 year old!

BTW. I did not say in my post it is a display set. Just telling people that it is a old stock. Otherwise you should be getting full 3 years warranty from manufacturing. At the monement you do not get full warranty, you should know what happen to the good you buy!

This applies to all brand. In fact some warranty card now a day specially print about cross and date of issue on warranty card (ie warranty card date). This is to prevent old stock sell as new and still carry full warranty period.

See following link

http://stuff.tv/news/Pioneer-ceasing-Kuro-plasma-production-in-May/12078/

Last batch of production for 50" is in APR/2009, some news claim to have about 3000 unit. So if you are getting new stock. It should be around year 2009. My friend in Australia gotten the APR/2009 one.

Take note, initially Pioneer announced they will only produce plasma TV 50" and above last year (2008). In first Q of 2009, they announced they will close down the whole plasma production. But will provide service support to 2017 IN JAPAN market.

The fact remains that you did call the sets our members own display sets. You still did not show proof of this.

I think everyone is entitled to an opinion, but this remains a technical forum, where we try our best to stick to the facts, unless it is an opinion on the quality. Eg, if someone says Brand Z is awful, thats ok. It is a personal opinion.

But when a statement that says all sets are displays or the like, then it needs to be backed up with some degree of proof.

That is only fair, or you add a lot of distress to others who may think that the post was fact.

So please think before you post.

Cheers
