Hi Petetherock,

Just stumbled across this thread whilst reading up on Pioneer Plasma TVs. Reason being that one of my Samsung LCD TVs just went kaput and so I am shopping around to see if there is still something out there that is as good or almost as good as my Kuro PDP-LX608G.

Would you care to advise/recommend me one? If possible, something from Pioneer, if there are still available?

Thank you.

You may want to read more on this thread - Pioneer is no longer making TVs.

LG, Samsung and Panasonic are your main choices.

Thanks Pete. Finally finished reading the thread and got to know that Pioneer is out of the market for TVs.

Am wary of Samsung built quality because out of the 6 Samsung LCD TVs I have, 5 spoilt within 1 and a half years and Samsung repaired 3 and replaced 2 with newer models. Didn't sit well with me though and am sourcing for a replacement TV, hence my initial question regarding Pioneer.

Time to do more research then! Thanks for your pointers, sir!

Pioneer Kuro Krp-500 settings and hrs usage

Hi guys and pete,

tried to access the in-service menu but failed to. Must have tried at least a dozen times b4 I gave up. Saw the method to go in posted by pete in this Accessing the Menu, Checking for hrs of Usage, Settings for TVs & TV channels thead.

No matter how many times I have tried, pressing the i (info) button once, waited for 3 secs, LEFT, UP, LEFT, RIGHT then POWER. Never seems to be able to go in. Tried in fast and slow sequence of entering the buttons also cannot.

Help pls. Or any other easier methods to access it? Thanks.

If you had read the Pioneer and setting thread more carefully you will notice that these commands are NOT for the Kuro Professional KRP series, which you need to pay someone to calibrate, and even find out the number of hours.

Or Pay for software and a USB which can do this.

It has been mentioned in this Pioneer thread, please have a look.

Haiz, just did a search on this thread and found out it has already been asked. Really no other alternative besides

1. paying for pioneer guys to come
2. buy a software with the usb thing

to check my tv number of hours usage? I've not been really watching SD programs since the tv is bought less watching BD streamed thru the htpc. Bought it since mar and at most is 10hrs per week. Very hard to guess how many hrs I have actually used it. Been wanting to change the default settings to a nicer contrast, guess now really dunno what to do. :(

In case anyone is still looking to calibrate their Kuro sets, a guy called anfieldude from the xtremeplace.com forum will do it - $200 an input consisting of ISF day and ISF night.
You can pm him at that forum.

Fortunately, I got my TV repaired by a 3rd party repair service company for just $280 as compared to getting it repaired by Pioneer. Charges at Pioneer was estimated to be at around $600 to $700. So far ok with the TV.

Cheers!
