hi guys. need some help to look for suitable notebook/ultrabook. i have very little knowledge about good laptops. it will mainly be used for browsing web and watching movies. simple facebook gaming as well.
budget would be below 1k. hope can get some recommendations here.
your budget will give you access to many laptops which fit your usage.
A few key points to consider:
1) Screen size: 11 inch / 13 inch / 15 inch or bigger?
You need to feel comfortable looking at the screen for longer hours.
Usually for home usage. 14 to 15 inch is a comfortable size.
Especially you are using it for watching videos.
2) keyboard and mousepad:
Do you like how the buttons feel as you type away? if you are using your laptop in a poorly lit area, do you require keyboard with backlight?
Do you like the responsiveness of the mousepad? If you are using a USB/Bluetooth mouse... then don't need to be bothered about this
3) Processor. i3? i5? i7? AMD?
Since you are paying up to $1K, look at minimum intel i5
4) RAM
I will recommend higher RAM, it will make your daily routine tasks on your laptop SO MUCH SMOOTHER.
RAM is something you should not cut back. You will only live to regret it later...
at least 4GB to 8GB RAM.
4) Graphics
An integrated graphics card like INTEL HD would be good enough for simple daily task. but since you are spending up to $1K, you should look at dedicated graphic card as well.
5) Hard Disk. Solid-state drive? Traditional Hard disk? or mix of both? how much disk space do I need?
SSD provide extreme fast access and near instant boot-up but its $$$$. I would recommend SSD if you need things
FAST. home users go for normal hard disk would be good enough.
look around 500GB
6) DVD Drive / BLU-Ray drive
Seriously.... do you really need this at all? 99% of the time you are watching videos on youtube/internet/Tu-duo/Funshion etc... Even the software to install programs are readily available online
but unless you burn alot of CDs/DVDs then that's another story...
