Why would the M5s be the better option? Is trading the LCD screen in the M4 5G for the AMOLED screen in the M5s worth the trade-off moving from the Dimensity 700 chipset to the Helio G95 chipset?

Generally as you mentioned, M5s is better because of the AMOLED display and Helio G95 is a faster SoC than Dimensity 700. Unless you really need 5G which M4 5G supports, I will go for M5s. Really depends on your needs.

How's the battery life for the G95? I'm a bit reluctant to move to the G95 cos it's 12 nm while the Dimensity 700 is 7 nm... which should translate to better thermal control and battery life? Would that make sense? Definitely don't need 5G where I'm sending the phone to... this will be a gift...

Yes I know... but that Helio G95 doesn't have a good rep apparently... so asking around for users xin have experience with this chipset...

I realised that I bought the Redmi Note 11 4/128 in March this year for only $211 after deducting shop voicher of $5 and platform voucher of $12 from the sale price of $229... I wonder if this would be a better deal overall... if there is such a flash sale again...

battery life is decent for G95. I bought a Redmi Note 10S for my parent, which is effectively the exact model which M5s is rebranded from, no thermal issue to speak of either.

Thanks for feedback... I'm guessing your parents don't play AAA games lar... ha ha... but it's good to know it doesn't overheat with normal level usage... that's also an important point...
