i would think that its done to avoid light bleed into the camera and create a "halo" effect when taking selfie..

You can disable any options that says "Recommendation".. There is also a toggle on msa that you should disable but I forgotten where it's at. In fact, when you first setup the phone in the beginning, pay attention to any options about personalized ads, marketing or for send data for improvement crap.. Disable all those and I've never seen any ads

I think this phone needs more optimizations as I think they use variable refresh rate especially on static page or when you are not interacting with the phone, it drops the refresh rate to save battery. When it ramps up the rate is where you see micro stuttering here and there. I'm sure they will fix it in upcoming updates
