Im 193cm, 85 kg

Wow, you're really tall. But I don't think that's why they rejected you. I think its something to do with your interview/ psychometric test performance or you didn't manage to clear background check.

But no matter, keep persevering! Hopefully you'll get in next time round!

Hi all, I have just a few question to ask.

1) if my parents have criminal records will it affect my application?
2) does DES ‘s SA include Interview?
3) For photocopying of N lvl certificate, must it be double sided?? The other side is like guidelines etc

Hi all, I have just a few question to ask.

1) if my parents have criminal records will it affect my application?

To answer your questions,

1) Yes, it would be very likely would play a part in your application result. I'm not sure how strict are they with the family background screening but even if hypothetically speaking about your family has criminal background and you made it in, I think your opportunities to go for operations will be very limited and by extension, your chances of getting promoted. Just give it a shot and see how it plays out.

2) does DES ‘s SA include Interview?

2) Yes, DES's SA does include an interview. Please refer to this guide I've quoted below.
Selection assessment for Direct Entry Sergeant (DES) consists of 4 segments:

1. Verification of Documents

Candidates would be given a blue folder with some forms. They'll need to place the documents that they were instructed to bring in the folder and follow the recruitment officers' instructions when filling in the forms.
(the forms are really wordy and complex and if you mess up, you'll have to redo them and get an earful from the recruitment officer)
Candidates would be called by the number on the file instead of their names and once called, they'll proceed to the officer who will verify the validity of his/her documents and certificates.

2. Physical Examination

After all candidates' documents have been verified, the males will proceed to one room, the females another room. Inside, candidates would have their height and weight taken. Candidates would also be asked to remove their shirt and spread your arms out. They will ask for candidates to declare any past surgeries or fractures as well as confirming any tattoos.

3. Psychometric Test

After Physical Examination, the candidates will be brought to Police Cantonment Complex (***) to complete the Psychometric test. It's done on a computer and from what I recall, most of the questions are situational based. After completing the test, you are released for a lunch break.

Candidates who are re-applicants who completed the psychometric test before do not need to re-take the test. Hence, they are allowed to have their lunch break right after the physical examination.

4. Panel Interview

After candidates report back to Home Team Career Centre (HTCC), they will be broken up into groups and led to different interview rooms. Candidates would be interviewed by 2-3 senior officers. Each interview takes about 10-15 mins per candidate. Candidates are free to leave after their interview is done.

3) For photocopying of N lvl certificate, must it be double sided?? The other side is like guidelines etc
You don't need to photocopy the guidelines side of your N Level cert.

If you have documents that come in two separate pages, photocopy each page on separate pieces of paper and staple them together; don't copy them back to back on 1 page, they will ask you to re-print. Speaking from experience.

Hope this answers your questions! If you got further questions, feel free to reply to the thread or DM me.
Good luck!:)

I don't think its a gender issue, I heard of guys waiting for 7 months before getting any call. You can try calling them (though I suspect they might just tell you your application "still under processing") Keep the hopes up, I think the thinking of "No news is good news" works here. :)

Actually no, they will ask you to sign a disclaimer form during SA to confirm and agree to have your background screened.

Hi Xiao Hui.. I think I was In the same SA as you yesterday..
I applied for Direct Sergeant Entry.

May I know what’s your dialogue session about?? Is it good or bad?

I think its like a 2nd interview kind of thing. Don't worry about if its a good or bad sign. Just have an open mind and show truly that you're really interested in the job.

All the best!
