Just to check, does DES looks at Cgpa as well? I'm not really those study kind of person. My achievements mostly comes from my part time work and CCA

Assuming DEI similar to DES when it comes to assessing results it mostly affects your starting salary than your chances of getting in

I got friend degree pass without honours can get accepted

Hello all, Im currently a year 3 Polytechnic student. I was rejected for home team diploma sponsorship (my Cgpa is currently 2.91) for both year 1 and year 2. Im currently having my internship (ending AUG). Im planning to sign on with SPF as my career after my graduation. Should I apply for the sponsorship again this coming Oct or apply for direct entry sergeant right after my internship ends?

Thank you for reading.

I would recommend you to try for the sponsorship again this coming Oct, reason being
1. They will still reimburse 40% of your tuition fees and allowance for Y1 & Y2
2. You will get 100% of the tuition fees and allowances for Y3
3. Sponsorship recipients will still get the sign-on bonus (what I was told)
4. MOST IMPORTANTLY, getting sponsorship means you secured the job already

That being said, try your best to do well for your internship. The criteria only state "good diploma results". Not sure how much is good, but try to aim for 4.0 for your internship. That should get your CGPA above 3.0.

However, I'm not sure if you were rejected because of your CGPA. It could be because of other reasons. Can I just ask at which stage were you rejected?

p.s. The entire process will prob take quite long, likely cos of covid. Not sure about this yr, but my journey took ~8 months. Applied Oct 2019, sign paper Jun 2020

I believe they do look at CGPA. I think your results will prob determine your starting pay. (someone correct me if I'm wrong)

1. Applied at career@gov 31st May
2. Application status changed to 'in progress' status after a few days
3. 15Jul received 1st email on tea session

Im thinking they are processing all late May to June application in a batch. Since majority here has gotten an email when they applied in June.

If you applied any later, perhaps its just a matter of time. Maybe don't expect it to be fast esp with covid.

I have just received an invitation to the Tea Session for DEI. But not sure when will it be yet. All the best to those who are still waiting.

Noted with thanks for point 1 to 4, for both year 1 and 2 I applied during 2-3 Oct but i was never given a reply stating whether I was rejected or accepted.

actually no point trying if u know wont succeed.

Just like O level 26 points expecting to enter Raffles jc. lol

Hey, at least he/she had a plan and worked towards it. Not trying = 0% chance of success. Trying means there's a chance of success, even if it's just 1%.

NAPHA silver, Im PES BL1 and I have normal color vision

PES BL1? I only know PES A, B1 to B4 etc not BL1 hahaha I'm female so NS knowledge quite limited :|

In your case, unless PES BL1 means you have some sort of medical condition or whatnot (once agn limited knowledge...), I feel it could be ur GPA results that did not get you shortlisted.

Personally, my 'O' level was not that good but I got selected. Almost failed EL somemore. Prob my GPA was quite reasonable so yea, back to the point on GPA. Use your internship, get that grade, push your CGPA to above 3.0 and try again.

If joining SPF is really what you wanna do, then rejection should not hinder your progress. There's always DES route if sponsorship fail.

If can get it. Don't even mind dropping pay 😂
But anyways I heard from others that during screening (when you apply to the job) your resume and education is already taken into factor.

If u state truthfully.
Once u pass the screening it should not be an issue already. They look at latest education
