hi guys.

do you have any idea whether i can number port (eg. singtel to starhub/m1) although it was originally registered by another person?

it's coz my aunt who have returned to her country gave me her prepaid number as she doesn't need it anymore. i just wonder if it's possible.

I have call Singtel and Singtel say is possible but during the port, your aunt need to be with you during the registration. You should call Singtel and ask time about this.

Btw any one still using the POD Prepaid card?

My SIM card is the original POD Prepaid card with GEMPLUS SIM.
Using it since 2003 till now.

I called Singtel about changing the SIM card since it is 9 years old and could fail anytime. Then Singtel say no way to change.
I ask them about the 2 way jump ship method they say some customer did that.

Also what happen if the SIM card fails(line still active) and I still want to use the same number, Only way is to port the number to Starhub / M1 but you must bring the failed SIM(no cut SIM) as they need to copy down the SIM Card serial Number.

If you were to move to Singtel then you CAN come in with a cut SIM. The only problem is that you cannot just go to any Singtel branch (where they need to write down the number) but need to take your cut SIM to commcentre where they will insert the cut SIM into a special reader and pull the info straight from the card. Just make sure you bring the SIM adapter as their device is for mini-SIM, not micro-SIM.

No charge except for purchasing a new prepaid SIM card from the new operator. You will lose all credit from your previous operator though.

The transfer takes a day or so, you basically use your old SIM until you get an SMS about the number being ported. Soon afterwards your old SIM will get logged out of the old network anyway.

Can still use this method. As mentioned:

- Go to the telco's you are porting to official shop and not their retailers.
- Better to bring along the person that registered the current SIM card, though you can try on your own like I did.

Additionally, I recommend buying the smaller micro SIM card instead of the regular sized one as new phone nowadays use them and you can easily get an adapter if you need the regular size one back.

Sorry for bumping this thread but I just want to confirm whether the number can be ported from prepaid to postpaid.

I am using a Starhub prepaid card now. So, if I port to Singtel prepaid, is it possible to port from Singtel prepaid to postpaid?

try another hello shop or wait till may/jun coz by mid year, M1 will allow porting from pre-paid to post-paid (said by M1's GM in Straits Times on 31/1/2013).
