Do you think being the top school of Yishun is really a very strong credible trump card? Are you trolling, or serious?
What’s the strong calling of being the top school of Yishun to people living elsewhere?
Being a top school in any neighbourhood means one thing: their PSLE result is the best among the schools in the neighbourhood. I do know the stats so Chongfu is very impressive for a neighbourhood school. It doesn’t have any GEP class and most kids from Chongfu, if selected for GEP, are likely to join a GEP school. So unlike schools like Nanyang, Nanhua and the likes, Chongfu’s cohorts are neighbourhood kids who shoot to the moon and stars during psle by their own effort.
When I compare results, I compare using the non-GEP classes as GEP kids’ results tilt the scale unfavourably against the non-GEP schools. Some GEP schools don’t even produce the same percentage of students scoring more than 250 among their non-GEP classes.
Oh, I don’t just know Chongfu is the top and most popular school in Yishun, I also knew the different schools that were top and popular in different neighbourhoods when I was in the foray. When you are caught up in the heat of the P1 registration, you will be fed with info of many top and/or popular schools in different places and not just the school and area you are interested in. That means I also knew that Peichun was a popular school in TPY, Anderson in YCK, Red Swastika in Bedok … and these are just what I offhand rattle off. Yes. I do know Rulang. Since more than 20 years ago, my colleagues told me it’s a ‘good’ school. In some places, I also knew the second popular schools.
I don’t know what trump card you are talking about. I also don’t know why you would want to discuss whether schools are good or popular here for because this is obviously not the right place. The TS was just trying to sound out others’ opinion on whether it’s a good thing for him to move to his dream home or stay for his dream school for his kid. His ‘good’ or ‘popular’ may not be ‘good’ or ‘popular’ to you. So no need to say so much about your opinion on whether this school is international or that school is good or popular or not. You just have to imagine yourself in his position with your own dream school that you think is good and popular and answer his question. I don’t think he’s interested to know whether his definition of ‘good’ and ‘popular’ is correct by your yardstick.
I think most people here would think you are the troll. Not me.
