You said in your previous post that likelihood of being balloted out in 2AB (sic) premerger is closed to zero. I was just providing information that plenty of schools went into balloting for 2A2. Anyway many schools also balloting in 2B all these whiles
2A2 is the one for staff members of the school to enroll the kids? Right? This is even more damning and greater reason that staff members should not enjoy any unjust priority or benefit in school enrollment. They are public servants. Not our overlords. This matter should be looked into.

I also see plmgs, geylang methodist and most ij schs no up also. Ij a lot of them damn attention seeking or becomes whores.

Just wondering if I'm missing something.
Errr I think you are too harsh and unjustly rude. Most of them are just regular Singaporean kids like anyone else. Most of them would make it to at least ACJC or CJC. Then go Australia study. There are also kids from better ranked secondary schools like RGS, Dunman and St Nicks who also end up in the same path.

I don’t know what you’re digging for. I think SCGS with the gross revealing uniform is the most off-putting.

The graduates from the secondary schools (not primary schools) of these schools you mentioned tend to speak English well. Plus Fairfield.

And English language fluency is a significant strength in this society which cannot be considered as a native speaking country of any language.

The good ones from those schs go to rgs and RI. Only go via dsa or grades. This is unlike primary schools, so not an apple to apples comparison.

But once you are in the primary school, assuming your PSLE results are average and not top school standard, there’s a higher chance you’ll just proceed to Fairfield/PLMGS Sec or CHIJ Toa Payoh or Katong instead of going to some neighborhood secondary school.

Absolutely. At least it gives the weaker students a chance, to be in a nice school with a nicer learning and social environment.

That could really make the difference and change the outcome of their trajectory after they leave school.

Guys how is the opinion on Fairfield primary? Apparently its one of the most high in demand? Why? Its psle scores, cca record and alumni not very impressive
The most attractive thing about this school is that it's affiliated all the way to ACJC and it's co-ed, so for parents with kids of both genders, you can one shot settle all kids into a school with affiliation. Also culture wise quite good.

There are different schools of thought. Some people think the teachers put effort to serve and hence they should be given the best priority like Phase 1, while some think like you that they shouldn't have any priority. Again you can't please everybody. 2A2 I guess it's the best middle ground for them.

For teachers it's more of logistics reason for them to place the children in the same school - they already need to report work early, if they need to send the children to another school before they go to work, would be super earlier for the children.

Of course there will be some teachers who try to get a position in a school of their choice in order to gain priority entry, but honestly if these schools are popular, as much as you want to choose the school, the schools are also picky in their choices. More than often these teachers don't get a place in their preferred schools :o

If it’s really purely about logistics, then they can give them priority only if they teach in schools that are not over subscribed at all. I read that over 100 Pri schools do not have a single parent that applied under 2B, which means no one did PV in more than 1/2 of all pri schools. The number of over subscribed schools are kept to a fraction.

As long as the teacher is posted to an over subscribed school, then they should not get the priority. While they can’t choose what school they are posted to, If you ask them they’ll tell you when it’s a top/popular school it’s an easier job for them and they secretly rejoice. So it can be a trade-off.

It will take time to change such an entrenched culture.

There are many pathways to success in the new economy !

Very rarely do we see Sg Media being critical of the policies in sg, followed by a ‘radical’ idea to reform the system. N the expert behind the radical idea comes from a government affiliated organisation (NIE in this case).

What this may mean for the future, draw your own conclusions. If the radical proposal comes to pass, the 1km premium paid for certain houses may disappear…
