1) You can always top up your CPF Life under the Basic plan. You are earning up to 6% pa on the top up and paid out as annuity too.
No, you're almost never getting 6% interest on such top ups. Let's not perpetuate that bit of nonsense in multiple threads, OK?

Every CPF member gets one crack at that $900/year of bonus interest, only one. And if you hit/keep $60K across your accounts, then you've got every cent of benefit bonus interest is going to provide, no matter what you do later (in terms of top ups) or what payout plan you select.

20 or 30 years SGS Bonds already guaranteeing 2-3% yield. Use that as a benchmark.

Just expect a worst case scenario of 120 or 150 years. Plan for this death age. Create a low cost plan to draw down based on this age.

I said up to 6%. It is still the correct term.

Well I guess if you are a multi millionaire, diversifying into lots of other expensive and exotic insurance products is not going to make much of an impact to your wealth after all.

Whether you are paying for good value out of those products is a separate matter.

A forummer skenny summed it up nicely.

No, it really doesn't work that way. A future long-term SGS could yield 0.2%, cf. Japanese government bonds. High quality life annuities purchased today are immune to such possibilities.

You can spend heck of a lot of money to hedge against such risks, imperfectly...or you can buy a baseline escalating life annuity and relax. These are very different propositions.

OK, but it's just not that likely for most people reading this. For a Retirement Account top-up's incremental dollars to qualify for 6% interest, you would have to be age 55 or older and have less than $30,000 in total CPF funds (of which up to $20,000 could be OA dollars). Is that very many CPF members reading these words when they reach that age? For 5%, less than $60,000 total -- still not that likely for CPF members reading these words when they reach that age.

I happen to think CPF LIFE is a great program, but all the talk about bonus interest on RA top-ups is rather over-the-top. You really would rather not be in a position to qualify for bonus interest at that point for those dollars, because that would mean your balances are quite low. Try not to do that (such low balances).

I have looked through the AXA Retire Happy Plus.

The guaranteed return is just above 0%. Inclusive of the NG, probably add another 1 or 2% which is not confirm.

What is the premium and period that you looked at?

For mine ($15k/year, 15 years), guaranteed is around 1.5%, NG is 3.25% - 4.75% (4.75% based on past records)

RetireHappy Plus happens to be worse than its predecessor, RetireHappy.

RetireHappy could net around 4.2% XIRR if you survive till the maturity date.

If it is still within the 14day freelook period, you can still cancel without penalty.

Beyond 14 days
Guaranteed portion is 1.5%+
Think I will just leave it. Any non G will be a bonus
Need that to complement CPF life

That does not seem to be what I am enjoying when I look at my BI. Not factoring in XIRR nor accumulation of Reversionary Bonus, i think I am getting 2.62% per annum.

2.62% is guranteed? For the years? Or their favourite word 'projected'?

Well, I would deem it as an annuity but many thinks otherwise. Yes, it is guaranteed. I have yet to factor in the discretionary annual dividends I am enjoying every year, the recessionary bonus declared (if any) and terminal bonus (if applicable).

Prior to 2013 (I think), the interest rates were portrayed in a more honest manner ie 2.5% and 4%. Then (I clearly remember), I read Tharman started calling it *up to 3.5% and 5%* respectively.

and since then, the subtle LIE of 3.5% & 5% has stayed on all official collaterals....

Payment over 10 years
There is NG portion too.,. Just won’t know how much till then
Need a base level of money per year to complement CPF life for my daily needs.
