Any scopes to share? U hve not stated the thickness of the girdle for stone 1. With the given info above i would think stone 1 would b a better choice, but will need scope images to confirm.

I too feel stone 1 is safer based on number alone. Images would help to evaluate, but the best way would be for you to go down and see for yourself which you prefer.

For JP super ideal I would guess the price to be about 7.5k to 8k ?

Is this the video you guys are talking about?

They showed 2 1ct diamonds next to each other and it's obvious that the Super ideal cut diamond looks bigger than the GIA triple exc one. Though the triple exc one might be the lower end of the exc range with a 63% depth.

The other diamond they compared was a 0.90 Super ideal and 1.01 GIA triple exc. This is where they both look similar in size.. not bigger.
Since when did anyone say that a 0.8 super ideal will look bigger than a 1? :s11:
0.8ct looking bigger than a 1ct sounds too exaggerated to me.

The point is that a superior cut diamond will look bigger AND more brilliant compared to one that is a less cut. Once again, I must say the comparision should be of fairer ground which is 0.9 vs. 1.0 and not 0.8..

If you consider the price point, a 1ct usually costs like 3k more than a 0.9ct, assuming the other color, clarity, etc. are the same.
It makes more sense to get a Super Ideal Cut 0.9ct than a 1ct GIA triple exc one, when the Super Ideal cut looks the same size, but sparklier, and cost cheaper.
Of cos I can't deny that 1ct sounds pretty awesome during discussion :s22:

I showed my fiance the video.. and educated her how impt the cut is.. haha.. We later compared her ring with some of her mum's diamond rings and can see it totally out shined them =:p

Bluenile selling their Signature ideal 0.78 F VS1 for SGD 7,434 after tax.
JP price should be abit higher than that..

That being said, their Super ideal cuts are of a much better quality than Bluenile's Signature Ideal though..

How much did you get yours for? can share?

Bluenile Signature ideal 0.80 F VVS1 is SGD9.6k after tax.
If it's same specs but Super ideal cut, i think it should be around 10k~

JP did not provide any scope..
For Stone1 the girdle is Thin to slightly thick...
The AGS date is a bit long ago.. July2012..
Any problem with "old" diamond???

Are both stones their super ideal range?
If can stretch the budget, then the bigger one. It not, I think the smaller one is good enough ;)

Ya, both are super ideal range... Michelle told me that JP only carry super ideal range diamond..

Bro, you can request JP for the scope images and they should oblige to do so. Nothing wrong with a Jul 2012 cert, diamond is not a perishable thing per se. However, there maybe a concern that it could be a return diamond.

Hmmm... thought JP do intro Ideal Cut diamonds to some bro here a few pages back???? So contradicting leh...

Their main business is Super Ideal Cut... but if you have a super tight budget and willing to go for a lower cut, they can sell you a Ideal cut.. The Ideal cut is not from their side though.. they take it from the House of Hung side. They will only sell it if you request for it.

No, she should give u the scope images..I hope JP's service level has not dropped... I would insist on the scope images. Otherwise how to see if there is any light leakage? And I would not close the deal until i see the scope images.

Strange JP experience. Anyway, might be new stock just come in. Did she mean cannot give you now as it takes time to take the pictures or not even going to take the photo so cannot give you ? I think it's more likely the haven't take yet but who knows. Maybe request for another SA see how ?

Yep, I agree that she should give you the scopes, also needed for checking for symmetry.

Seems to confirm The new batch theory or maybe their photographer still on holiday. Hahaha. If you have the cert number check when it was certified ?

I'm keen in this diamond from bluenile. I like blue fluorescence diamonds. I'm thinking if I compare 2 diamonds side by side, I may be able to tell the difference between a super ideal and an ideal 3ex GIA diamond. But if I have only 1 diamond, then a grade lower than super ideal is ok for me I guess.

I can't post links so here are the specs

Carat weight: 0.86
Color grade: G
Clarity grade: VVS2 - pinpoint
Cut grade: Excellent
Polish: Excellent
Symmetry: Excellent
Fluorescence: Strong Blue
Depth: 61.8
Table: 57
Crown Angle: 34.5
Pavilion Angle: 40.8
Star Facets: 50
Lower Girdle Facet: 80
HCA: 1.4

Bluenile is unable to provide scope pictures :(

If this diamond is brilliant on it's own, I will be quite happy with it as it's 5.7k for a 0.86 whereas a 0.72 F color VS2 diamond will cost 7.2k from JP, that is a savings of 1.5k

Jann Paul's service is very good. They will help you source for ideal if it's the only way to fit your budget. BUT big but, the ideal stone is simply sold THROUGH Jann Paul, not BY them. It is a House of Hung stone sold through JP. You will NOT be entitled to the JP lifetime cleaning, prong check etcetc. Any extra service they give your is good will as you are not entitled to it as you did not buy a JP stone. But you get the free benefit from their sales service in serving and sourcing for you. This is what I know. although I think unlikely, you can try to negotiate for better post sales service etc, but YMMV, and as I said depends on their good will.

If someone has any other info I'm sure everyone would be interested.
