While it is true that JP settings cost more, the quality might be different. The ring can be solid or hollow.

I rather pay more for comfort fit.

Hmm.. you are looking at 2 different products though. Comparing Super Ideal and Ideal, the price for Ideal will be cheaper.. For bros who are willing to sacrifice the cut, JP does have Ideal cuts to which are cheaper.
(but I think you'll need to request for it since they specialize in Super Ideal) In the past posts, some guys even managed to buy Bluenile's Ideal range from JP at a cheaper price than Bluenile. So it really depends on the quality you want.

Cut is definitely the most important for me. To me getting a diamond is to have it bling as loud as possible (and to show off abit too =:p). I can see the difference in the quality of Cut for sure.. Being in my field of job, I'm very particular about numbers and performance.

Anyway, I can't say much about the numerous bad reviews about White Dwarf.. I don't think its just about the bad reviews. If you check the past posts, all the accounts that "bought" from WhiteDwarf were either new accounts, hardly any posts, or banned. That says pretty much about it. HWZ admin even posted of an account (Des126) banned because it is from WhiteDwarf. Des126 was talking good things about Whitedwarf and also talk about "how you can't see the difference, etc".

lol.. kenna exposed..

Seems like some bros here prefer to jump to conclusion w/o thinking much. For other bros who do think, some points to ponder on

*

Isn’t it weird for any to have more than 50 posts on a thread posted over a few years discussing on proposal ring. Seriously, who will be so enthu about this thread after they bought the proposal ring. I can only think of 3 possibilities
*

a.****** He took ages (years) to buy a proposal ring (hence always checking out on this thread)

b.***** He is super helpful and willing to share his experience again and again after buying his ring

c.****** He is involved in the diamond industry and is monitoring this thread and trying to influence other bros towards a certain direction.

*

There is zero bad review on some shops (i.e. JP) at all in this whole thread.
*

There is very very little good review on other shops (i.e. all other shops except JP)
*

Whenever someone suggested something bad about JP, someone else will say that that that person is either link to some other shop or a noob. More interestingly, these “group of people” have a common characteristic. They usually belong to the gp of people I pointed out in point 1 above (i.e. people who have more than 50 posts and active on this thread for years).
*

Whenever someone posted good review on some shop (usually all other shops except JP), someone else will posted a bad review on that shop the next day. (e.g. we shouldn’t buy from lovis becos it is part of Taka jewellery which sells lower quality jewels). Don quite understand the logic, does that mean we shouldn’t buy a Lexus becos Lexus is part of Toyota. On the same note, we shouldn’t buy from JP as well since it is part of house of hung which sells low quality jewel as well.
*

There are other forums discussing on diamonds but little is mentioned about JP. Why are all JP loyal fans centralised in this forum only...
*

To all thinking bros out there, I am not pointing my fingers at anyone. Just felt that it is fair for me to share how I felt.

*

FYI, I am looking for a ring for my gf, chanced upon this thread, got really excited abt JP, visited them and almost buy on impulse. Glad that I check out some other shops. Hope you guys do your homework, visit more shops before making the move too.

Maybe you misunderstood me. When I said kenna expose, I meant WhiteDwarf accounts being banned by Mod for faking to be a helpful buyer.. this was a fact posted by the Mod. I wasn't referring to you if that ticked you off.

Reason why most bros here talk about JP is because they are very different from the usual retailers. Everyone walk into Lee Hwa, Tiffany, SK, etc. its all the same process. See ring on shelf, like or don't like.. ask for price.. end of story. JP gives free diamond edu and are more comprehensive about the diamond cut. So there's more things to talk about? This is a very techy forum and JP gives the most technical data about their diamonds. Perhaps this is why they are popular here.

Read the old posts and there are huge loads of discussion on tech specs.

IIRC , i don't think anyone said don't buy from Lovis.. they only said it is part of Taka jewellery. Only you say don't buy from them :s22:

I hope you did your research well.. HWZ isn't the only place talking about JP.

Wedding Ring - Page 6
Support Forums : recommendation for wedding rings ...

Pertaining to your point of JP fans being a group of people with blah blah characteristics.
I would highly recommend you retract that sentence as most bros here have long withstanding account that have thousands of posts.
Many lao jiaos/old birds did their fair share of research and is kind enough to share them here.
Most forummers here are smart enough to distinguish the real from fake..
HWZ mods are smart enough. you can clearly see over the years who have been banned.

Do your research properly and this is not the only forum that focuses on cut. any other website will tell you that cut is the No.1 important C. Any shop that tells you otherwise are shops that don't even know about super ideal to begin with or just want to sell you ideals.

FYI of the facts.

Dear Members,

Thanks for your interest in proposal rings and your strong contributions to this thread.

The moderating team at HardwareZone appreciates the reliability and credibility of our members' posts and understand the importance of impartiality in the forums.

With this statement in mind, des126 and desmond126 have been permanently banned without reprieve as we have been presented with irrefutable and classified evidence that these accounts belong to a sole individual who has been posting on behalf of WhiteDwarf Pte Ltd.

Thanks for your points.

I guess your lengthy reply just reinforced the message I am trying to carry across in my earlier reply. Thanks. =)

Leaning on this side of the plate:

Yes it took me great effort to research before buying a ring, and I am once a newbie, and this thread specifically enforced me the information that I need to be a good or rather a knowledgeable diamond buyer.

Been browsing a lot of forums before becoming an active member on this thread, where else can you see a lot of information that you need? a lot of images that you want to see? a lot of diamond scopes that you want to see?
a lot of experience Bro's that are willing to help?

Wow, there is still bad rep about White Dwarf (i have not logged on for months =:p) I bought my engagement ring for my fiance back in January 2013, and I just bought the wedding band from them one week ago. No problems at all. I really dont understand this. As far as I know and from my experience, they are legit and very professional. Anyway, as im typing this, i note that there is a JP advert banner on my right on this webpage :s13::s13:

Goodluck to everyone looking for the perfect ring, I agree that everyone should do your homework and there are many shops out there too. I know a friend who bought from Canary Diamond and she is very happy with her engagement ring too :) Oh, I also introduced my future MIL to JP and she got earrings from them and happy with it too. Yes, like I said everyone do their homework. I just feel to single out a shop (s) like that is unfair.

In your past posts, you were getting diamond advice from des126, who is White Dwarf himself. That's a new level of professionalism. lol

That may well be so, he may be White Dwarf himself but I did my own research too. What i meant when i said profesionalism was that when I dealt with White Dwarf personally from the all my queries up to after service and then many months down the line, the purchase of my wedding band.

On those exact spec of diamond for the engagement ring, I went to other websites as well to ask about it, I was quite active in pricescope too and had extensive discussions with people in those forums. At the end of the day, I myself made sure I got the right diamond. I am very happy with my purchase and so is my fiance. I went to verify with my local jeweller, he was so impressed with the workmanship and quality of the ring I got. So I am happy. But again, I stress that everyone should do their own homework and not rely on just a particular person in a forum. This is just my own personal experience and my own opinion :) goodluck to those future buyers :)
