There's a few different types of cushion. Most common is the standard cushion that most retailers are selling. The other type is the Brellia, which has the hearts and arrows patterning, giving it a superior shine. The antique cushion is the when they first ever started cushion, where there is very little facets, but larger facet structure. Not sure about the crystal ice cushion :s11:

what will a fancy diamond with medium blue flor looks like? lol

Blue and milky? lol

went down to JP yest, appt times abit mixed up although partially my fault too in replying late.. attended by michelle who was really nice and patient as she went through the details with me.. finally settled for a 0.45c, E, VS1 with standard settings and awaiting anxiously for collection date! :s13:

just a quick qns though for experienced bros here, when i looked through the scope for the hearts and arrows, is it normal for it to show like the hearts got some clefts from various angles and none in others? noob here and first time looking through the actual scope, so wondering if i may have made any mistakes and assumed that the angle wasn't right therefore causing me to think there may be broken hearts there.. sorry for the wall of text..

I think you should be able to get 0.3++ carat depends on clarity and colour. Why not just schedule an appointment with them? Cheers

Went with an appointment and the rest is history..

Made an appointment last week with JP and it was with Ranjit. This name immediately rang a bell cos it was one of the good feedback from one of the bros here..

Long story short, with my "peanut" budget, I managed to get my ideal size rock with setting. Total damage under control.. Collection early March..

Am just curious and checked the HCA score on this and it was 1.1.. I guess this is rather good score already?

It is an ideal cut, when JP actually deals more with Super Ideals. The session was really informative with Ranjit and I took about 3 hours to finally decide. The artisan will be closed during the CNY period so expect some delays..

So for bros with limited budget, don't be shy and set up an appointment! :)

Hi all, I'm thinking of getting a ring as a birthday gift with a budget of 1.5k. Will it be better for me to visit retailers like LH/GH/SK or JP? Am afraid that JP find my budget too.. *ahem. Appreciate any advice given.

You have abt 3 weeks to find wedding ring. That should be enough time? Or can get those ready made ones

Actually to be frank, when buying diamonds, we don't look at it via the scope, you must see it under natural light, most jewellery store is under led light. You must see whether the diamond sparks. Lets an example, a good diamond must be in excellent in a lot where you can compensate on the color, even can go for H color. estimate for a loose diamond the size of 1.66carat abt $14K.

It depend, must see the GIA cert then can tell. If you not in a rush, try vivo diamond, no brand, setting as many as 100 over designs, diamonds as many as you can never imagine but of course you must have a huge pocket. For a 0.5 i believe you can get it at lower price. No harm seeing

for those looking for proposal rings or wedding bands, take a look at Vivo Diamonds - Singapore Diamond Engagement Rings and Wedding Bands Jeweller. I'm not a salesman there, just a happy customer and learn a lot of knowledge from them. In the website you able to check the GIA cert and the pricing. Is base in Singapore Tanjong Pagar area.

Sharing this site to give you guys more choices to choose from not just from the few JS

The scopes is'nt there to make the diamond look prettier but to make sure you're not getting cheated. Like different brands sell Super Ideal.. but are they really Super Ideal as they claim? To check if it's the real deal, you need to confirm it via the scopes.

It is true that jewelry stores use led lights to make the diamonds look better. The true test is under natural light.. so that's where the scopes come in useful again.. to check the light performance to ensure that even under natural lighting, it will still be as sparkling. That's also why with a Super Ideal quality cut, you can go lower on the color :)
