Hi mates,

Was quoted by JP $2700 for the diamond 0.47G VVS2 Super Ideal Cut and just received the scope image.

Any bro can advise if its a good buy..

Not able to upload any image due to low post.. any kind soul can assist?

Bro, your diamond seems like a good buy eh...bought a super ideal that is about the same size D colour vs1 for about 3.2k. Of cpure you still would need to see the scope images to determine if its a good buy.

I think yours seem like a better deal than the other bro from your specs. Colour D as compared to G makes alot of difference in price.

But the clarity would have made up for the difference in colour? I dunno which is more expensive better colour or better quality.

Me no expert but from face of it, D to G is 3 grades up. The clarity only 1 grade difference. Hence minus off, yours is 2 grades higher which can be few hundreds diff. Lol.

When you compare both diamonds side by side, can you tell the difference in colour? I think clarity is subjective, though... but if given the choice, I'll pick the one with better colour and clarity... and find a size which fits into my budget...

Just what I think.

I couldn't actually, until it was outside of the colourless zone, and only when comparing the D to a G. But then again I'm abit cock sometimes lah. heh.

Anyway, I put my deposit down for the 0.77. Keying in the specifications into the HCA gave me a score of 1.1, which is quite acceptable i think, but I also looked at the scopes and it looked alright to my untrained eye. They're gonna give me pictures of the scope images soon, and hopefully then I can post them up and everyone can critique it.

My main considerations were mostly that with the naked eye I couldn't tell the colour differences, and certainly wouldn't be able to tell the inclusions apart, especially so when set. In fact even with a 10x loupe I couldn't really tell where the inclusions were, and there were actually 3 - a feather, crystal and cloud.

I was given to understand that generally clarity is graded on a 'combined severity' basis, i.e., if there were to be 1 inclusion in a VS2 graded stone vs 2 inclusions in another VS2 graded stone, the former would likely have a more severe inclusion, versus multiple but less severe inclusions in the latter. Can anyone verify this?

One thing I've got a concern with though, was that the feather was on the table, between the 3 o'clock and 4'oclock arrows. Are there any structural issues associated with feathers around the table?

If one is able to give further insights, the report is here : https://myapps.gia.edu/ReportCheckPortal/getReportData.do?&reportno=1156800658&weight=0.77

Thank you!

Hi bros, I just bought my diamond from a retailer in Houston. As I am coming back to Sg within the next few days, I did not have time to get the stone set in a wedding band. If I am looking to do a solitaire setting on a simple 14k white gold band, where in Sg should I go to that is trustworthy and has good worksmanship? Also, if I want platinum prongs, just specify to the jeweler can already right? What is a reasonable price range? No need for custom made bands, cast is sufficient for now. Thanks in advance!

Would like some opinion.. is it safe to buy a diamond purely based on GIA report specs without seeing the actual stone? Thinking of buying from online websites like bluenile..

From reading the thread, it seems like draw of the luck when buying online based on GIA report alone.

Some reported good value, some reported problems.

Buying online based on GIA is very risky.. Without the scopes, many things can go wrong. Even if you get an 'excellent' graded stone on GIA, it can still have broken hearts/arrows and poor light return. I think got one bro here bought from bluenile before and it ended up being not as good or brownish? not sure..

I'm still more conventional, I still prefer to look at the diamond with my eyes before deciding.

Thank you!

The clarity grading sounds logical.. same grade with 2 inclusion should be smaller compared to same grade with 1 inclusion.

I only know should not get those inclusions on the edges. If it's on the centre or table, it should be fine.
Others do correct me if I'm wrong
