Good idea, but methinks the price might not differ by too much.

Btw for those who want to get their rings, pls consider gold price when you do so. Jann has stated that his costs do change according to the market.

Why am I saying this? Because Bloomberg had a report that an eceonomist predicted gold was going bear market.

Hi,

It would not be surprising to see some downside in Gold. Partially, the US seems to have regained its safe haven status and some money has moved out of gold. Partially, Gold was at historic highs, and there was bound to be profit-taking and letting off of steam in Gold prices.

But when you are buying a diamond ring, I am not sure this would play a large part in the diamond jewelry pricing since the ring would usually take up a comparatively minor part of the diamond ring cost.

If you see the pricing trends in the charts I posted earlier, in the long run it is probably better to buy earlier rather than later. Generally speaking...

When choosing diamonds, we would recommend to focus more on the beauty as the diamond appears to the eye, than to numbers alone.

Best regards,

For me, buy earlier can free up the budget for other things. Kinda like force you to save coz you need to pay for something.

2009 diamond... old stock?

Don't flame me. This is my personal opinion.

Dont think is a ideal diamond as stated, the cut grade, polish, symmetry is only at very good and good level.

The colour is good but the clarity is not ideal.

Better diamond should at least be a 3 triple excellent grade and VS2 above with colour D ~ G.

thanks for your advice, so from ya analysis, does this mean it is not really that good then? i have a tight budget therefore looking to go for size rather then other factors.

how much is this diamond?

got 6k?

nope, about 2.5-3k infact, would this be considered as a good buy?

From my personal opinion, this is not a good diamond. SI1 for clarity, will have quite number of inclusion inside. Better to view under scope to view all the light reflection.

If you ask me whether 0.7 carat for $2.5k, yes that is a good buy. But for that spec, i not so sure. I think sometime you can see SK or Taka clearing stock and you can get 1 carat for $4k+.

If you can view the diamond, view the physical diamond... just from the paper many things are not stated inside.

Cheers!

2.5-3k is cheap... but as what fkm1180 mentioned, SI1 is visible to naked eye esp it's 0.7carat... it will be obvious...

Agree with naxchua and fkm1180. 2.5 ~3K is cheap for a 0.7ct diamond.

However, if its for your SO. Its best not to just because of the size.

It might look presentable, acceptable alone, But eventually, when they start comparing their diamond, the result will be quite obvious.

Thanks for everyone's comments, sadly i can't view it under the scope as its already been set into a ring.

The reason i'm attracted to this piece is mainly due to it's size. My SO wanted a 1-carat one initially which is definitely out of my budget, so i worked around it and see if what was the biggest size diamond my budget allows.

i've also considered others higher-end ones like Brilliant Rose or Destinee ideal cut and higher specs but smaller in size around 0.4-0.5 which are really blinky and shiny too but also slightly much more.

I guess it's back to the drawing board for me. :(

Are you only looking at the retail chain stores? You can consider private jewelers like Jann Paul. They've got very sparkly diamonds at lower prices.. much cheaper than the Destinee one.. its worth to take a look.. and you get a diamond education session too :)

Honestly i don't know when you SO told you that she want a 1 carat... is it really mean it or just say out for fun.

I agree every girl want to have a very big and good diamond... but she has to understand her partner capability as well. Of cos if you are earning $5k to $10k per month, she can demand for it... because if you earning that much but still buying 0.4 or 0.5 carat, that really show that you don't love her that much.

But if one person earn lesser buy he manage to save and buy her a 0.3 carat. I think she will be very happy as well!!!
Really depend on your partner... If she can understand your actual condition, she will not make you difficult.

My advice is... get something that is within your budget. You can get another one or bigger one for her after your marriage or when you earn more money!!!

Hope you understand what i mean!!!

Cheers!!!!

Hi,

Gabi Tolkowsky has a good piece of advice for people who are anxious when purchasing their first diamond. Start small... Bigger ones will follow.

In buying your diamond, try not to fixate on size, or price. We would recommend for you to look for the most sparkly diamond, or the one that "speaks" to you. Choose with your eyes, not with the specifications.

It would be preferable to buy a smaller but more sparkly or beautiful diamond, than to stretch to buy a larger but duller diamond.

Just my 2 cents worth... Good luck hunting for your beauty.

Best regards,
Stephen Tan

i am considering ( in the pipeline ) to get a diamond ring for my wife. The prob now is to find a reliable retailer. And i jolly well know they mark up serioursly a lot. I am willing to pay , but not to be come the largest carrot that they have come across in recent times.

And recommendations?

Taka offer

Just another diamond offer if you all want to get a higher carat but don't mind of the spec.

JP did not sell diamond below VS2 and colour below G...
so if you want to get something cheap with other spec... maybe can consider all the christmas deal.

Here is from Taka again

1) 0.60 M SI1 $659 CCK MRT
2) 0.50 M I1 $469 Midpoint orchard

Cheers!!!
