i am considering ( in the pipeline ) to get a diamond ring for my wife. The prob now is to find a reliable retailer. And i jolly well know they mark up serioursly a lot. I am willing to pay , but not to be come the largest carrot that they have come across in recent times.

And recommendations?

I like your quote
$$ is not a problem, the problem is no $$!!!! Good one.

If you willing to pay for a high markup, i think it is quite easier to find something to suit you! You can try Tiffany & Co, Cartier, Mont Blanc... :s13:

Joking only. I not sure what is your budget. for me... i can't afford those brand now... maybe you can!

Surely there are retail store that meet your criteria, if they don't have anything suit you, tell them your requirement, i think they will be very happy to search one for you.

Just another diamond offer if you all want to get a higher carat but don't mind of the spec.

JP did not sell diamond below VS2 and colour below G...
so if you want to get something cheap with other spec... maybe can consider all the christmas deal.

Here is from Taka again

1) 0.60 M SI1 $659 CCK MRT
2) 0.50 M I1 $469 Midpoint orchard

Cheers!!!

I saw on the papers too. Looks attractive but don't know how are the Cut like.

Hi guys, first post but was looking through the threads.

I got a quote from JP for a 0.51ct, brilliant round (F, VS2, HCA 1.2) and he quoted me ~4K. But my colleagues kept telling me I "tio chop" leh... =(

Can a diamond with my specs (which I consider to be modest) be really worth 4K?

Round brilliant or solasfera or brellia?

Go around the branded boutiques and check online for similar size and color to verify. Don't just hear what your friend say, he's not a jeweller.

Just got a quote from goldheart while looking at wedding bands. Celestial 0.36ct (E, VVS2. might be wrong, can't rem exact) = 3.5K+.

Go figure..

hi guys, need some opinions

went around Larry, Canary and other mainstream jewellery store...

I went around internet searching on whiteflash and was thinking of getting an Emerald cut diamond and getting a local jeweller to set. Is that the best way or should get the online jeweller to set it as well?

Good idea, but methinks the price might not differ by too much.

Btw for those who want to get their rings, pls consider gold price when you do so. Jann has stated that his costs do change according to the market.

Why am I saying this? Because Bloomberg had a report that an eceonomist predicted gold was going bear market.

Correct me if I am wrong - I think there will be upward revisions to gold jewellery when the market price of gold increases but at least for the more upmarket outlets (I can't really comment on the others) I don't think the price of the gold jewellery goes down when the market price of gold drops due to fear of brand dilution.

Depends on the design you want and if the online store has the design you want.. and whether you know her ring size or not... Resizing might be an extra cost again.

Emerald cut might be extra tricky to buy online as they have a wide range of length to width ratio... So some might look too long or too short... Need to consider the step cuts too.. Cos some is too thick, some is too thin... I considered getting an emerald cut before too :)

Do also factor in the significant price jump at those golden numbers, e.g. 0.5ct and 1.0ct.

And I think your friend might have only shopped for diamonds at SK, Taka etc. You seriously need to learn more about Cut and the 4Cs as a whole. Local stores I see only advertise the other 3Cs.

I think most of the time, JP's quote are for diamonds only? Correct me if I am wrong coz this is based on my experience with them. :o

It is a Round Brilliant diamond. Abt 500 for the white gold ring. The HCA score of 1.3 was computed by JP and myself and he provided the three images (H&A, Ideal, Aset) which, to my untrained eyes, looked extremely symmetrical (JP taught me well on what to look out for).
