5 pronged diamond rings are very secure but does not show the diamond as much as a 4 pronged claw does.

Basically, lesser prongs may showcase the diamond more (ie:side view) but there is a risk that knocks may loosen the diamond. You can compare pictures to see the type of style that suits you.

It's an individual's choice. Just my 5cts, hope the experts can chip in to help your decision making

Oh this makes sense too.

Most jewellers tell me there's no difference in security though.

Thanks for the inputs. So i guess different number of prongs is just a personal preference eh? No limitations as to whether the kind of diamond suitability etc? Hehe, diamond-noob here.

Mostly a preference, though people like 4 prongs because it's a little towards the classic elegant side.

it's limited to shape as well, alot of pictures posted here is the brellia from jp, which is of course limited to 4 prongs:s12:

Jann just called me to inform me about the design. Ready next week.

Looking forward.

Their turnaround time for crafting the ring used to be 3 to 4 weeks. But business has been good, current wait time is 5 weeks already. Jann said as much himself.

mine more den 5 weeks le =x

BF say Jann told me ours take 3-4mths wor

If you want a custom design you need to wait :) but I can tell you it's very worth the wait.. I dunno about you guys but the designing was free for me. Last year, when we did some early searching, we paid $400 for a jewelry designer to come up with a drawing which in the end wasn't what we wanted..

Got my ring from JannPaul few mths back with 3 prongs. It was quite interesting reading back through the posts and i can't seem to find any other ppl with settings of lesser than 4 prongs. Anyway, Jann assured me that its secured enough so i'll trust him :) Too bad no official picture taken from them as Casey was away when i went to pick up. His the official photographer for all those brilliantly taken photos. ;)

Do post some pics. :)

3 prongs is really unique, chance of getting them elsewhere is low.

Most of us here are not a big fan of Vivo.. They use fake and automated bots to post reviews online, both on facebook and forum about their diamonds. Members here (including myself) have exposed them before.

I'll see how i can get along to taking the pictures properly. Its quite hard getting the camera to focus properly, everything just comes out blurry...

any website for jannpaul?

They have a facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/JannPaulDiamonds You can see some of their works there. And the appraisals. ;)

With a budget of about $1.5k, is it possible to get a 0.2 - 0.3carat ring from JP?
