For $300 difference, you might as go for the better color! Did you see the diamonds inside the shop or outside? It can also be because of the lighting that makes the diamond look good. In jewellery shop, everything almost looks the same to me..

I see, can I know more about the specs of the octagon? Am thinking if I should go for octagon for my next upgrade or go for a bigger carat super ideal.

Its a 0.56 E VS1. Wa I thought you just upgraded? :s13: I like the shape of the Octagon thats why I went for that instead.

Got a quote from JP for super ideal. Hope you guys would give me some advice which to pick or what to change. Got the scope images for 2 of them, would post them if you all need to look at them. :):):):):)

Super Ideal Cut
0.51 F VS1 - $4,100

0.55 G VVS2 -$4,550 (have scope images)
HCA = 0.6

0.54 F VS2 - $4,300 (have scope images)
HCA = 0.9

I'm so tempted by the solasfera and octagon cuts too though. but over budget haha.

Is it possible to get an octagen cut with a 5k budget? I'm just wondering because when we went down to JP, they only showed us the normal round ones.

I would go for 0.54 cause the difference in carat for 0.54 & 0.55 is of no difference, plus 0.54 is F colour. Clarity wise VS2 is good enough, dont have to pay $250 for for a lower colour yet higher clarity

Can. I forgot the exact specs, they gt show me one between 0.45~0.48 carat.

Yes you will be able to. An octagon will be more expensive than a super ideal at the same specs, so there will be some trade-off in size.

I agree with Lynntoh. 0.01ct won't make any visual difference. For $250 less, you get a higher color. Albeit the Clarity is lower, you won't see a difference either. Their VS2 is a VS2+. They filter their clarity to be the upper range of that grade. So to me, their VS2 is already of good value.

Nope... back then the husband didn't know much about diamonds and bought from Soo Kee. They didn't teach him about the scopes and stuff. Then for my upgrade, I went to do my own research :s13:

Photo is abit hard to see, but the difference in the shine is very obvious especially when I compared them outdoors. I borrowed their Ideal scope to play on my ring and could see it have alot of light leakages :( Last time I thought that's how diamonds was suppose to look like and accepted it. But now I know..

My Octagon is a 0.56 carat. With my custom setting everything in was 5k+. I'll be going back to them this weekend to clean my ring. Vince told me they can clean my ring any time when I'm in Orchard.. hehe

May I know if your custom setting includes side diamonds? If it does, 5+k is really a good price!
