Normally, local ring shop measured based on asia ring size chart (HK, etc). I suggest you call that shop, ask them what standard they use. After that, go online to do the ring size conversion.

i somehow managed to find out my girl's size from a ring shop... but when i go online to buy, the sizes are in US, Eur and all that...

ring sizes in shops, what is the equivalent size in online stores?

Gabi Diamonds in glass.. interesting idea!

How does the reverse side looks?

Hi Kimmjio,

Yes, we found the idea fascinating as well. This is actually made in Austria by a master glass-smith, since it is no easy task to encase a diamond completely within glass.

The "back" of the glass can be clear, or it can be black in colour. We prefer black because it offers a lot of contrast against the scintillation of the diamond. However, the clear option is very visually interesting as well, since it makes the diamond appear to float within the glass.

Best regards,
Stephen Tan

Thanks For ur reply. Is appt a must? Cos I just need to make a quick enquiry on the price of 0.3-0.4 brellia, F color with Vs1 cut.

Dun worry, they reply really fast. Only problem is that they may not have the exact specs u ask for, but will try to match something close.

The yellowish is certainly visible..its up to you though

did a comparison between G and E/F for super ideal cut diamonds.

for 2 colour grade differences, very close scrutiny by the naked eye is required even under sunlight. if indoors, quite impossible to tell the difference.

but that's for me personally la haha. best is still to trust your own eyes.

i would sacrifice the colour and clarity for a higher carat size, but not less than G and VS2.

People told me I should get a >10k tiffany ring if I want to go for a tiffany ring because otherwise the carat will be too small (usually 0.5 Carat).

Then what is a reasonable carat size to buy? And how much should I budget for a decent tiffany ring? Is 10k enough or more like 15k?

Thanks.

if i can recall, a 0.53 and 0.72 (colour G, clarity VS2) cost about $8.5k and $14.5k respectively, in classic solitaire setting when i dropped by last week.

I've been following this thread for quite some time read so much good stuff about Jann Paul's diamonds. After much deliberation and procrastination, I've finally decided to take the plunge to propose! (I've been procrastinating for over a year liao)..

I saw that Jann Paul carries a few different diamonds like the Super Ideal, Solasfera, Brellia, etc... Just to check, which is the more popular one? and what's the main difference? Thanks!

you need to do your own due research prior to making any purchases. Look around abit and compare prices. The point here is to understand that there are various factors that go into a diamond's pricing.

A stone that is more expensive does not equate to a better diamond.

Personally, my experience with a singaporean wholesaler didn't go down well.

If you want to read more about it, you might want to check out this link: onlinediamondbuyingguide.com/My-Personal-Experience.html

Thanks for sharing your link. I briefly read through it and it seems to be very professionally done up. One thing I find though, is that it is very biased towards James Allen.

When I was doing my diamond research online, I have come across several bad reviews about James Allen too. People have complained about their diamond quality and problems with their settings. Posters from other forums have talked about their poor customer services and issues with their shipping and delivering of their rings. Although some were happy with their product and service, there are also some that are left disappointed. If you're spending thousands of dollars, I'd rather not take the risk of being the "unlucky" one.

Personally, I've looked through James Allen's Signature diamonds with their Ideal/Aset scopes, but most of them are not as perfect as the Signature range of Whiteflash, Good old Gold or Jann Paul. Perhaps its a quality control thing? If you do decide to go online, I would recommend going to GoodOldGold instead. I find their service and diamond quality to be much better and on another level.

Another thing is that you are wrong about Singapore vendors; Jann Paul provides Ideal /Aset / Hearts and Arrows/ Gemex / Diamond Dock / Sarin information about their diamonds. I would say it's even more detailed that what James Allen provides.

On a separate question, why did you get a high specs F VVS1 main diamond but non-matching I Color and SI2 Clarity side diamonds?

Anyway, a quick search on the internet would reveal some negative experiences with James Allen.
