2k for the your diamond spec is possible.. but with side diamond i doubt so.. so mayb you should consider going without side diamonds or increase your budget

you can't be too sure if its a good deal until you see the diamond physically. (with scopes)

Look under the scopes.

The pictures posted in this thread are views of the diamond under different scopes.

Of course if you don't know what you are looking for then it's quite silly already.

HCA score can be calculated. Go google for the formula or the webpage calculator. Anything above 2.0 is bad.

I think if he's choosing something other than round diamonds, the HCA score won't apply.

Last time I tried to use the HCA to calculate the cushion I bought. :s13:

I learnt from Casey (JannPaul) that all 8 H&A they house have a HCA score of 1.3 and lower.

This might help

The best is use the HCA calculator. Doesn't mean your 0.9ct looks bigger than a 1.0ct = better factors.

This could mean two things, either the 0.9ct is too shallow or the 1.0ct is too deep. Both are bad diamonds that will not reflect the bling bling you see.

The HCA calculator is just the first step in buying a diamond.. The best is still to use the other scopes. Like what zakkieez has posted before, a diamond can have a very good HCA score but still have light leakages and unsymmetrical hearts and arrows. To know what you're really buying, you should use the HCA calculator AND the other scopes.. :)

i highly agree on the good service too...
after buying from JP i went walking around too...once in awhile at orchard i see the GSS sales diamond..on the spot i can see the diamonds..like quite dark..no brilliance... nothing like what i saw from JP which were so shiny..
one day i was around the area and popped by to ask Jann.. about why are the diamonds so under promotion so dark..
he explained that those diamonds were most probably Very good cutting only..
i gotten their contact from here and feel that i ought to repay back some nice information that i think is on many's mind... they gotten me interested in diamonds... much more than my gf is..
the first question that comes to my mind was what is so different between the triple excellent diamonds that can score well in hca vs JP's super ideal
so i requested for an assessment on triple excellent gia or triple ideal 0 ags diamond that most stores sell.... this is the info JP compiled....

I recall going to normal jewellery shops out there while sourcing for my diamond and I did quite a lot of homework before hand..

Went down, ask for scope to view the hearts and arrow hoping to spot wad I saw from my homework online... BUT in the end i got quite a shock as under the scope I practically CANT SEE WHERE ARE THE ARROWS AND HEARTS !!

I thot it was becoz I duno how to use or see the scope properly until I went to JP.. POOF~~ 1 glance thru the scope i can see all the beautiful hearts and arrows placed nicely as wad I saw online ^^

So u might be able to see all the hearts and arrows nicely as per attached below..

Whats a mini solasfera? A solasfera is a solasfera...
or u just mean a smaller carat size solasfera? Say less than 0.3 carat?

I'll write my thoughts/mini-review of JannPaul later on.
For now, suffice to say that I went down to collect the ring I ordered today. 1.08 carats, G color, VS1 Solasfera. Solitaire setting.
My girl loves it, of course.

For the fun of it, we took a look at a Brilliant Lady that they had in stock. 0.92 carats, D color, VVS2. Beautiful rock (though personally I prefer the cut of a Solasfera). I would say that whoever is in the market for a diamond that is in the 'above-average carat size range' for a proposal ring would do well to take a look at the Brilliant Lady just for consideration.
