guys, do girls really care about all these tech specs abt diamonds?

show them a big shiny rock from a good brand and i think that'll be good enuff right?

all these specs are really for our own pleasure (like how we buy gadgets, cars, etc)...girls wun really appreciate it right?

Not true... diamonds are not like luxury products like Hermes
Hermes uses high quality leather + the branding you have to pay quite alot for it.

Diamonds stand on their own industry, a diamond 1/3 the price of say from Tiffany's can look alot better than a diamond from tiffany itself if it's higher specced, bigger, better cut

if you compare both rings, the cheaper more beautiful diamond will look better than the one from Tiffany in all aspects, even if the band is engraved with the word tiffany:s12:

Had appointment today served by Casey from Jannpaul. Very nice fella to talk to. Got a loose diamond Solasfera 0.64 D Color Vvs2. Damage : about $7,500*

Anyone saw the Solasfera through the scopes with your own eyes before? Nothing to say Sia, perfect perfect!!!!
There's a gem machine to show how they look like under different lights it will blow the other cuts out of the water
By the way anyone know manhattan card is direct rebate or what?

Their cuts all look different.. The Solasfera is a performance diamond. I go for Brellia for the bigger fire and brightness... and the fact that there is no other cushion hearts and arrows =:p
It's rarity and cuteness :D

Cannot say blow the other cuts away la... its alot on perference.. but they all have maximum performance to their cutting already..

The manhatten card is direct debate.. but don't charge over 4k cos no point already due to their cap. If you're not in a hurry, you can charge 4k first and then when the quarter cycle ends, you charge another 4k. :D

It takes 3 or 4 days for the pictures... Long time ago while i was looking for my diamond, to my knowledge they uses iphone and it was faster to get them...

The anniversary gift that i got for my wife comes with the new high def shots... jann mentioned to me before that the camera needs calibration for each diamond and every one of it takes like 2 hours to capture because it is difficult to get the perpendicular shot.... so possibly that is why it is hard to keep up to date with every diamond stock...

Thanks, just waiting for the high resolution pictures. Actually to be honest, I know nuts about diamonds until I visited JP but than again I am still not sure how to see the H&A plus the Aset scope pictures. I also need the specs to calculate the HCA score. However I trust that his diamonds are good as my friend told me so and also the rave reviews here.

Btw, I wasn't served by the usual people mentioned here: Jann, Paul, Casey or David. Instead I was served by a lady called Amy even though I booked an appt through JP, anyone got served by her before?

She's quite good also, recommending me the wedding band that will fit my engagement ring.

They are at Far East.
Besides super ideal diamond cut, they have international brands of diamonds like the solasfera, brellia, angel and brilliant lady.
Diamond quality are higher and prices way better than retail outlets
U can easily google for more information of those diamonds.

I'm actually intend to go for round shape diamond with simple tiffany setting for the ring.

Vivo Diamonds and Jann Paul, are they better than jewelers like Lee Hwa, Gold Heart,Soo Kee?

Hmm ok if u really going into specs.. Say u have 2 diamonds, same specs (or very little difference, like 0.56ct and 0.58ct)... put 2 side by side, one from Tiff&Co, the other say from TAKA...(i think it is safe to say the Tiff&Co one will be higher priced)... u show both to a girl, i'm sure she just pick the Tiff&Co one, she wun go ask so much abt the rest of the specs which defines the value of the diamond...

I believe most girls will want just a big shiny diamond with a good brand especially when ur girl friends started to ask where u got yr ring from.. But i believe nowadays girls are also concern abt the specifications of the ring and u wont be surprise that people actually made comparisons based on the cut, clarity and stuff..

I'm waiting for my ring collection end this month from JannPaul and 1 month of wait is really hell for me seriously!! Totally can't wait. Decided to go for JP instead of those brands like Soo Kee Brilliant Rose, Lee Hwa and Goldheart because dun want my bf to spend too much (Just for the branding mostly) because we got a Super Ideal cut, triple excellence, D, VS1, 0.42 for $3550 from JP and I think with this price, i can only get a 0.30 or lesser in those retail outlets..

I believe most noobs like me when it comes to Diamonds will be deeply impressed by the services and comprehensive training that JP actually provides.

What's the average waiting time for Jann Paul?

Do they allow you to change the ring size just in case it doesn't fit?

And for engraving, do they charge extra?

I think some people can get within 2 weeks if they are in a rush but hv to request. But for ours, since we have time to wait so from selection to collection is about a month. For Ring size and engraving, they will do it for free but those value added services i think got maximum up to 4 times.. I cant rmb wat after sale services they offered..

Thanks for sharing.

I just went to Vivo Diamonds. These are the specs the person share with me. The price as compared to Tiffany and co, is really so much more expensive. It's really paying for the brand.

The specs for the Vivo Diamond are as follows:-
- 0.52 Carat / E colour / VVS2 = $3920
- 0.6 Carat / F colour / VS1 = $4360
- 0.6 Carat / D colour / VS1 = $4720

What do you guys think?

It's hard to say without more info about the diamonds.. like is it
1. Triple Excellent?
2. Got fluorescence?
3. HCA Score
4. Most importantly, does it have light leakages under the Ideal/Aset scope
5. Symmetrical hearts and arrows?

You can save on the price.. but you don't want to sacrifice on the quality of the diamond either..

Omg my fiance just told me that he got a call from Jann saying they are going upgrade my diamond from 0.48 to 0.51 because the diamond showed to me that day wasn't up to their standard, it wasn't a super ideal brilliant diamond. The lady who served me isn't very good with engagement rings, only wedding bands thus the situation. No wonder no tutorial when we went that day.

He is going to give us one tomorrow. Wow!!

Yup totally FOC, I expect the difference to be quite a lot because of the carat jump from 0.4x to 0.5x. The other specs remains the same.

I guess they really want to uphold their reputation. Can't wait to see Jann tomorrow.

been following this thread for a while and decided to post.

really? wow? looks more like damage control here. i saw preppygirl asking for pictures of the diamond and seeking opinion for the diamond that she bought.

i could have imagined her posting her pictures here only for the rest of the forum members to scrutinize the diamond only to find out that the diamond isn't as ideal as it was claimed to be. the damage in reputation would be bigger. the "raving" reviews seem to say that jp carry ideal diamonds blah blah. really? how did this less than ideal diamond got sold to preppygirl.

PreppyGirl, could you describe the day and experience when you first went down jp? it sounds like you were misled by their staff.

"The lady who served me isn't very good with engagement rings, only wedding bands thus the situation". sounds like a lame excuse to me. it sounds weird that a staff is only specialized in selling wedding bands in a jewelry shop. if i want to buy a matching band to the diamond ring then must look for who.

i would have imagined that if Preppygirl didn't bring this up in the forum, she will probably be walking away with the 0.48 diamond.

i am looking for a diamond ring myself and is considering going to jp for a look but better go prepared. who should i look for who when make appointment

Agree with ryanlpc, it's damage control. But to be fair, at least it's prompt, not like few wks later than inform u. And goes to show that they check their orders. Maybe a mismanagement from JP...perhaps training new staff? I wouldn't mind getting a free upgrade though hehe :)

Hhmmm.. Hard to say. Their explanation seems valid to me.. But maybe preppy can tell us the whole story. But one thing for sure is that they seem to be the most honest ones out there by their willingness to share. This has won them many supporters who recommend their services to others.

Naturally, other competitors try to ride on them and take opportunities. When I was looking out for a diamond in this thread, I was pmed to buy diamonds at xxx places. So I wouldn't be surprised at constant new accounts to stir things up here.

Anyway, I've never heard of Amy before... Only Jann, Paul, David and Casey.

 are you implying that preppygirl is stirring things up? since you brought this up, the same can be said of some posters in this thread who keep mentioning jp. after this preppygirl saga and if it turns out to be true. probably a couple of those posters might be ppl frm jp thmslves. :D

it makes me wonder how many people had walked away with less than ideal diamonds when so many people here keep mentioning getting "ideal diamonds" or how they qc diamonds
