moi no moolah rike chiu all go, JP srrr srrr rook rook, in the end, bought a trilogy from sookee, their polarice collection. all 3 diamonds same size, 0.34c each, triple EX etc for about 5k. now waiting for them to resize the ring.

Actually they can cater to yr budget ah. I went JP in Apr, told the saleslady my budget at 5k. She brought out 3 diamonds, we went thru the course n I settled on this:
Carat: 0.56c
Colour: E
Clarity: vvs2
Dmg: 4.5k (Diamond) + 550 ( Setting)

Have collected the ring since n can say I'm very happy with the purchase. Granted its only 1 diamond vs 3 0.34c ones. Quality is definitely there though.

Those who bought from JP, have you tried bargaining for better price before?

Hi Bro,

Actually anyone can try to bargain, I did in some way.....it is not bargaining....but rather they will help you find the ring/stone base on your requirements and budget.

They will also encourage you to look around and compare or before your appointment you have already been to some shops for comparison. During your 1st visit, same with other shops no obligation.

What I observed is, the settings itself is discounted when you purchase the diamond with them. I have tried inquiring for other shops for setting/resetting it will be the same for the rest of the shops may be 50-100 dollar difference for a normal one, and 200-400 or more difference for a setting with side stones or etc.

There's one good guy from the OTHER shop that can do the same, but in a way a bit limited on what he can offer you in terms of the stock and availability as well as the scope images. Surprisingly, he even tried to ask his manager if they can still lower the price....but then again we we'll still go for the one that we can see ALL and have ALL, scopes images, quality, options blah blah ;-)

It all depends on your bargaining skills and ofcourse the mood of the other person ;-)

Now, I am looking around for the right wedding/eternity band ;-)

Bros,

One thing to add, other than the quality, fire and performance of the stone...we must look further...if we decided to upgrade someday and let go of the current, wherever we purchased it..be it Shop A or Shop B, make sure that the Certificaton is there and it is widely recognized.

In short, the re-sell value is still higher if we go for the well known Certed one.

Hello Alpha, Congrats on your ring purchase at JP!

I think you need to call up SCB on this. Not sure if installment plans still qualify for $200 rebates.

Thank mate.

I have checked SCB fine print. Installment does not qualify for cash rebate.

The depth is >62%.. Anything over 62% is considered a steep deep cut.
The star facet/lower half is 60/80..
It would be better if the star facet is 50%. If the star facet is too long, it would create a "clustering/messy" effect.

Nope, without the setting.
Hmmmm... Based on my rather outdated Sep 2011 Rapaport, the price is fair for a super ideal, would have been a steal if it comes with the setting. HCA 0.8, which should be at least a decent performer.

Nonetheless, I would ask you to compare the prices at the local retailers, such as Lee Hwa or Tian Po (assuming yours is a Hearts and Arrows), which will be approximately 40 - 60% more expensive, I believe.

I was quite surprised when I knew that the hca is 0.8, which is a really good score. Though I know the hca is not everything, just help to filter out the not so good ones.

I'll just go those chain retailers to check it out and have a look.

After 2.5 years since I bought my proposal ring...

I'd still love to have gotten this diamond with mega chunky blings:
Introducing August Vintage OEC Rounds: Part 1 The Bling Factor - YouTube

The August Vintage Rounds... A brand name of Old European round cut diamonds perfected with the proportions of the modern round brilliants...:love::love::love::love:

Its that one in the middle:

Interesting.. does the auguest vintage have hearts and arrows too? From the photo, it looks like it has 8 fatter arrows..
