Is this from their Super Ideal range?

You have a very nice stone here, my only concern is the Star Length which is within the acceptable range but a bit way above the optimal range, clustering would not be an issue I supposed as the Star Length and Lower Half are both within the acceptable range.

Can't wait for the ideal scope and aset images ;-) don't forget the H&A images.

Hi all, many thanks for the replies!

Fickle-minded me went down again today and finally narrowed down to the following 2 stones. Sorry for the lack of scope images as JP can only provide them to me in 2 days… I hope these info below will help in the meantime! :)

Stone 1: Round Brilliant, 0.534 cts, G, VS2

Stone 2: Round Brilliant, 0.51 cts, E, VS2

Measurements: 5.10 – 5.13 x 3.16 mm

HCA score: 1.3

Both are from their Super Ideal range and I’m so vexed over choosing between these 2! Can I trouble bros here for an advise, considering that Stone 2 (0.51 cts) cost $500 more..

Many thanks once again! :)

Cheers,

For me, I will still go for the 1st stone, size wise. Color E is on the top range but Color G is really good enough. Then save your $500 for the ring settings or some other things ;-)

Side by side .53x is really bigger than .51 comparing to a flat .50 ;-)

Hi bro Lurker_13, from the AGS cert it seems like there are some clusters of clouds at the side of the diamond.

Hi bro hollander, yes it was quite obvious actually when i placed the 0.534 and 0.51 side by side! The only thing I'm concern is the colour range, which falls under G for the 0.534 one.

If you are very particular with the color then go for E. Go with what your heart desires ;-)

But by the naked eye, can you see the difference between E and G? not everyday that the ring/diamond be placed side by side with a D,E or F color for it to be compared.

Thanks Lurker! I am just concerned if i am getting a diamond that stretch my dollars.

Thanks UpperCut! Please help me to understand better, where do you see the particles?

Any other thoughts or comments will be appreciated! Just want to be certain before i commit on this diamond! :)

Bro, looks like a nice stone. :)

I would be expecting a little less particles even for a VS2.
You might wanna have a relook at the diamond itself to make sure the particles cannot be seen with the naked eye

Hi all,

This is my very first time getting a diamond and i am not certain if i am getting something that is worth its price. What do the experts think of its grade? Any comments, analysis or thoughts will be very much appreciated!

Diamond type: Super Ideal Cut

In terms of Cut, both diamonds are truly super ideal cuts.. This is where you'll need to use your eyes as a deciding factor.. For the VS2, if it is eye clean, it won't be a concern :)

For GIA, their star and lower lengths go by "5" ranges.. Eg. 45,50,55,60, etc.. If the star length is 52%, GIA rounds it down to 50% if it is 58%, they round it up to 60%.

For AGS, they don't round up or down the figures.. so far star length 53% and lower half 78%, on GIA it would become 55% star length and 80% lower half. That will still be in the star and lower optimal combo..

Cheers,

If it helps, I know some girls are fuss over the color :s13: DEF is in the Colorless grouping and GHIJ is in the Near colorless grouping. I'm not sure if 0.02ct will have an obvious difference.. but for me, I remember I could see a difference between a E and G color

Stone 1 is definitely the top choice.
For value-added purchase, get stone 1.
Stone 1 has lower depth and higher carat weight which means larger stone with better spread. the difference in size would be noticeable by the naked eye but not obvious.

Colour wise is not important as G is still very much colourless. The gemologists would have to compare it with higher colour stones side by side to see the difference. Under normal viewing circumstances, there is no difference at all. (I never bothered about colour at all so long it is not in the K or below). The beauty of a diamond depends on its cut. In this case, both look similar on paper. I would choose the bigger one anytime, especially if it is bigger.

Spend the 500 on the ring, it is more worth-it.

VS2 would be eye clean 99% of the time. Especially if your stone is <1 carats.

IMO, I would look for a third stone if I'm not in a hurry. I can see the color in G even when it's presented alone. Mine MUST be a D-F colorless, even if it meant going for smaller stones, which I did, btw. I would rather have a stone that looks perfect visually than one which is slightly bigger & (imo) imperfect.

Sure, many people won't be able to see the color by itself when it's alone, but when the girls start comparing...... She may not mind but some people are nasty enough to harp on it & make her feel bad.

Something my godmother said last weekend really stuck me. She didn't receive a proposal ring, and when my godfather finally bought her a solitaire, he gave her one that every man & woman would envy. A 1.5ct, D, VVS or better, triple E (from HK, where they seem to really know their stuff). It is obscenely huge on her tiny fingers. She said, "He will only give me the best." I feel the same about my FI. He's giving me the best he can at this point in our lives.

In the other direction though, I would have been happy even if he proposed with a glass bead on a stainless steel ring. =) It's the person that counts, not the rock. I have to say I'm quite vainly & selfishly happy that he didn't though. He got me a rock in a size that is big for my age group & he emphasized gives him leeway for an upgrade later on. XD I chose one that is slightly under .5 for the price savings & so I can wear it on a daily basis. At my age, anything more is too much.

In other news, when I was in HK, I saw someone wearing a huge but lifeless diamond. D= The first thing that ran through my mind was what a waste of money that was! There was no fire or sparkle to it. When it did reflect light, it flashed halfheartedly in white.

Hey guys need some opinions

Just paid deposit for a 0.33cts VS1 D solasfera
I realise the GIA cert is dated October 2011 . Seemed like its a quite old diamond. Do you think I should be worried? Although I seemed to.

Was pleased with the service though so far. Will post the scope images once i receive them. Took the design reference from agete jewellery from Japan. My gf like their sleek designs with small gems.

Let me know if I should post the rest of the attributes.
Thank you
