Very well cut. Overall very good images, purchase with confidence :) nice color and clarity. But if they have it, you might want to consider a vs1 stone. If you like the high clarity then this diamond is good :)

Specs and proportion are fantastic. The pictures looks good too. That's definitely a Super Ideal cutting :) Congratulations on your purchase!

Out of curiosity, what kind of design did you choose?

Thanks for both comments.!
Design as in settings?

I chose a simple tiff co design with no sides, and requested to slightly lift the diamond to let it looks bigger.

Hi guys, i have read a lot about JP here and will be scheduling an appt with them soon. I visited a local retailer and was quoted the following as a good buy:
E colour, .37 carat. S1 clarity, it's 66 facets for the cutting.(GIA certified i think)
It cost 3200 and no charge for the setting as I am okay with the settings that comes with it. The thing is, being a newbie on this I wont know if this is really good value.

What other specs should I look out for or ask the retailer?
How do u all do the comparison?
What do u all thing about the specs above?

I have seen the diamonds under the scope, to me it looks almost the same except the size and colour.

My budget would be under 3500. And the one I saw seems to be quite okay. But will be looking around more before purchase.

Any views on the above?

Price is on the high side.. if you are into those higher facet diamonds, you can consider the Solasfera 91 facets. With that same specs, it should still be cheaper.

would like to check if there is a difference between the GIA and AGS Cert? Is the AGS Cert well received as I dont see much people quoting AGS Cert as compared to GIA Cert.

Thanks for the help!

That's seems a good deal. Anyway the retailer I went mention about their uniqueness of 66 facets being better than most of the ideal cut or perfect cut diamonds out there. And also the salesperson talks about other diamond which have 80 or 90 facets being too fragile. I think the impt things to me is the decent size, colour and the sparkle of the diamond. Anyway does the cut determine how good it minimize the light leakage? And how sparkle the diamond will be?

Both are well known and most sought after certs nowadays. Both have their own criteria for grading the diamond, GIA as "excellent" and AGSL as "ideal".

But for H&A diamond, you will see mostly that AGSL is being used.

My preferrence is AGSL above all :)

When the sales person starts talking crap which is false, time to avoid them...

66 Facet sounds like one of the rose cuts... brilliant rose ? Its different from normal cut, no direct comparison. and no, 80 or 90 facets does not make it too fragile.

If you want the rose cut then only the retail shops have it i think. Yes, the cut determines how bright or how much sparkle the diamond will have. Extremely briefly, Yes, better cuts reduce light leakage (better cuts, not more facets). More facets, more small flashes of light. less facets more larger flashes of light. Affects how the sparkle looks. Also, iirc one of the rose cuts was cut for size as well, so it will look bigger then a normal ideal cut. In fact, it looks significantly bigger.

It's a really nice one @volley05 :s13:

On the Hearts images, around the 10-11 o' clock area, some noticeable gap problem on the ''v", but then again you will have a hard time noticing it on the actual diamond ;-)

The price is for the diamond alone?

Between GIA and AGS, the AGS one will be better. They are more details in the cut grading of the diamond. But still need to use the scope to confirm.

If you compare with the other 66 facets, 0.37 E SI1 ($3,200), yours is a 1 color and 2 clarity upgrade. The price looks very reasonable.. Summore yours is a Solasfera :)

Solasfera is 91 facets iirc. They are not only different brands, which obviously affects the price, but different cuts. In addition, the price of the 66 facet was quoted by a regular retail chain, so there is bound to be a higher markup. The only similarity is they are both round, and made of the same material. Given all this i'm not sure if that's a fair comparison.
