wahhhhh this octagon diamond is it improve version from angel diamond?
look like my angel diamond worrr~

this one nicer and more special shape than my angel diamond i bought years ago~

It's abit different. From the pics, the arrows are thinner and it's less squarish than the angel diamond. This one has 8 even edges whereas angel has more like cut corners. It's more towards a round rather than a square I reckon. Though I wonder how it will look like on a ring. I can't find any ring photos of it

Saw the Octagon too~ Have to agree on the unique shape. Never seen that shape before. But I think my SO will like the Brellia more because it have a softer touch to it.

You mean the scope images? Those are to check the performance (brilliance) of the diamond.

For certificate, stick to GIA or AGS. They are the better ones. Personally, I prefer AGS over GIA, but that's just my preference.

Most people will recommend you to go for a minimum 3 EXC (GIA) diamond.
Cut - Excellent
Polish - Excellent
Symmetry - Excellent

It's a good start.. but there is still much more to it. There are many 3 EXC out there that are still badly cut even though it shows "Excellent" on the cert. Don't just follow the 3 EXC blindly. To make sure you're getting a good 3 EXC, you can follow these steps.

1. Make sure the proportions are good.
How - Use the HCA tool
w w w .pricescope.com/tools/hca
Aim for a score between 0.4 - 1.5

2. Make sure it has good light performance
How - Use the Ideal and Aset scope to check. This is the colorful scope images you saw.

3. Make sure it has nice hearts and arrows
How - Use the hearts and arrows scope.

I went to a few shops and tried.. the hca score was around 3 on average.. some even 4+.. Hardly any even below 2... The lowest I saw was 1.7.. but the clarity out of range...

Some "branded" shops don't even let me see the cert. They say buy already then give me the cert.

I can't get pass the first step of low HCA score.. can skip this step?

How high you want the colour and clarity? I'd be more particular about the cut. It can make the diamond look bigger and "whiter". To me, clarity is the least important. I think 8k shld be able to get .8ct around there..

Not very sure about all these..

Maybe colour will be at least "E" and clarity VVS1/2? I don't know about "cut" for diamonds.

I can increase my budget a lil if there's a good reason to do so.. Otherwise, I'll work with 8k, inclusive of ring setting.

Haha. That's the thing about the GIA triple excellent. It varies alot.
Correction to my previous post. It should be 1.4 or below (not 1.5).

Is the HCA tool essential? yes.
Is it 100% accurate? no.
It's a first tool to check if your diamond's proportions are good. If your diamond has a good proportion, it will have a low hca score, vice versa.
If your diamond has a high hca score, it already means that the proportions are bad, and it is most likely to have poor light performance and look bad under the scopes.

But that doesn't mean a diamond with a low HCA score is definitely good either.
A diamond has 57 facets and the HCA only checks 17 of them. So you will still need the other scopes to check the rest.

In other words, you shouldn't skip step 1 :s13:

hi i am sourcing for my proposal ring too, i have a budget of around 3++k diamond + setting. is this budget abit too low for JP?! hoping to be able to get a .5carat ring. high chances is getting a super ideal cut because "round" diamond is preferred.

What are the price different between super ideal and brellia?! if opt for brellia if with the right setting is it possible that my diamond will look "round"?

thanks in advance

Hi, I just got my diamond + setting from JP with ard the same budget as you. I was told that it was impossible for a 0.5 carats super ideal cut with a relatively good colour + clarity with that budget.

Most probably u will be looking at the range of 0.45 - 0.49carat..

$3k++ should be able to get a 0.5ct in lower color and clarity.. like G-VS2. My Brellia 0.4ct+ was $2k++. But if you include your setting, I think will hit over 4k already. Super Ideal and Brellia are same pricing.

Why you want the setting to make your brellia round? Isn't the purpose of buying a brellia is for that cushion shape? lol

Super ideal and brellia is the same but in different shape. Both have the 8 hearts and arrows. But for a cushion shape diamond range, the Brellia is the most shiny one. The usual cushion diamonds have no hearts and arrows so that sparkles aint that good. Even Tiffany's cushion diamond is like that. I compared my brellia with their cushion and can see a big difference. Even the Tiffany SA ask me what diamond is mine :s13:

Jp have videos of it. You can try to search. This is one of the videos that convinced me to get my Brellia :D
