I think Cut plays the most important role..

This is the first diamond I bought. Basically, the green and white parts are all the light leakages. And as you can tell, it's practically like everywhere.

When I see it next to the super ideal diamond earrings, even though they are smaller, the difference is very obvious. TBH, at first when I compared them in the shop I could see a slight diff only.. I thought ok la.. not that bad... then they explained to me its because of the shop lights that jewellery shops uses. Then they show me the diamonds again outside the shop on the streets. That's where the diamonds were like night and day. It made my ring looks so bad.

Shops use these trick lightings which makes everything look the good. The true test is when it is outside. But I doubt all shops will allow you to bring their diamonds outdoor :s13: So next best thing is to use the scopes to check.

I think girls are more sensitive to color too. I cannot tell between a E and G. But my wife die die insist its damn obvious..

Haha I feel for you. Even GIA gemologists measures the degree of colorlessness by comparing a stone under "controlled lighting and precise viewing conditions" to masterstones. I'm not sure how often your wife compares diamonds under these conditions. But wise men say wives are always right!

Shld be ok. I rem 0.4ct is around 2K+ and 0.5ct is around 3k+.. see what color and clarity you want oso. If you're getting a 0.50ct, a 0.4Xct++ will be a better. Once over 0.50ct, the price go up alot. If not get a 0.5xct one.

Wow.. very different compared to the other diamonds. That time when I got mine, Solasfera was the latest one they had. I wonder how it will look like when its set on a ring.. 4 prongs? 6 prongs?

The Octagon was only available recently. They had a very limited range available. Setting design will be a 4 prong with side diamonds. They have a few suggested designs on their blog.

ya. left is octagon and right is brellia. The specs for octagon is 0.67 vs1 d and brellia is bout 0.75 vs1 f.

Any advice gals?

Female here. I would say the octagon is more modern and a little edgy. Would be good for girls that like clean sharp edges, monochrome type of style. Whereas the brellia looks like a cushion cut which is quite a vintage cut actually. So it feels more classic and timeless to me.

The Octagon? Hahaha. I like the Octagon for its shape and sparkle. If she likes more square shapes, the Brellia might be better. But then again, if you rotate the Octagon to like those 4 corners, it will look squarish on the ring too.
