So how much did you HTB end up paying for this 0.49D VVS2?

He paid around $4.3k including setting. Mine is a plain setting without side diamonds, as I tried one with side diamonds, the whole ring is too bling and take away the attention of the main diamond.

Hi Guys,

I'm planning to get my proposal ring next month.

I have a budget of around 4-5K and i'm looking for around 0.5x, D-F, VVS1/2 round brilliant cut. I'm not looking at any complicated settings because we both love something really simple like this without side diamonds.

Possible?

I think should be possible, as previously I decided on my ring, I got a specs of 0.4x carat, F Color, VVS 2 at around $3.9k, you can email to JP to get a rough estimated cost.

Hi!

Thanks!

Wondering any big difference visually between 0.4x and 0.5x?

I not sure. As I have never come across 0.5x as these specs is hard to find. I went twice and both only have 2 size to choose from, 0.3 and 0.4, and there is only one 0.4x ct. So Jerome told me I was quite lucky to get the 0.49 on my second attempt.

Visited JP earlier this week and ended up considering between the Octagon and Super Ideal. I was given the following quotes:

Octagon 0.56c E VS 1 at $5,200
Super Ideal 0.61c F VVS2 at approximately $5150
Super Ideal 0.67c G VS1 at $5,500.

I am most inclined towards the 0.67c, as I could see the difference in the size (vs the 0.61), and I could not see the difference between F/G or VVS2/VVS1.

GIA cert is 6205983992 and HCA score is 0.8.
Its excellent for light return, scintillation and fire, and very good for spread.

Any thoughts on this?

Yes they do have something like that. Simple setting without and side diamonds. Simple setting is the best to bring out the main diamond.

Should be able to get a 0.5ct , but better to ask them. For simple settings, they have alot of variations and can customize too. If you need your ring next month, better visit them soon.

Yea, getting the bigger one was what I thought too.
Would the difference in G and E/F be obvious to the naked eye? I couldn't tell the difference, but maybe that's just me haha :s13:
You cant tell the difference by just looking unless you place two beside each other. one way to hide the yellowish if you are concerned would be to get a 6prong ring setting.

She not sure what is the cut quality. But never mind, I trust JP quality especially since so many of us have purchased from them :s22:

I'm very sure the diamond might not even be GIA certified. SK also got sell diamonds in other kinds of certificates which I've never heard of before... Whether they are as accurate as GIA is questionable..

Yeap, JP comes highly recommended by many of my friends, so we are definitely in safe hands.

I guess it depends on individual preferences as well. I have a friend who insists on spending more on an engagement ring at Cartier for the brand, so its down to the individual..
