Super Ideal 0.72c G VS1 I was quoted 7100. Kena chop carrot?

Visited JP earlier this week and ended up considering between the Octagon and Super Ideal. I was given the following quotes:

Octagon 0.56c E VS 1 at $5,200
Super Ideal 0.61c F VVS2 at approximately $5150
Super Ideal 0.67c G VS1 at $5,500.

I am most inclined towards the 0.67c, as I could see the difference in the size (vs the 0.61), and I could not see the difference between F/G or VVS2/VVS1.

GIA cert is 6205983992 and HCA score is 0.8.
Its excellent for light return, scintillation and fire, and very good for spread.

Any thoughts on this?

Same haha. So when she say you kena carrot, i think she is the one kena carrot. Paying $4k for a not guranteed good quality diamond.

=x I think usually people will not know much about diamond. As basic things we know will be the clarity, color and the carat. So if these 3 are rate medium to high, one will think is a good diamond without seeing what is inside. I too was like that until I went for the diamond knowledge short course at JP.

I'm very sure the diamond might not even be GIA certified. SK also got sell diamonds in other kinds of certificates which I've never heard of before... Whether they are as accurate as GIA is questionable..

Still got other kinds of certificates??

Yeap, JP comes highly recommended by many of my friends, so we are definitely in safe hands.

I guess it depends on individual preferences as well. I have a friend who insists on spending more on an engagement ring at Cartier for the brand, so its down to the individual..

Yup I agree, overall it boils down to the individual preference. I saw one of the Cartier wedding band and I intends to ask JP to customize to be the same as it. :D

Yeah. There are other types of certificates and even in-house certificates. Which is basically their own printed cert. :s13:

That was what I was told too haha, that usually couples will go to the commercial retailers to find the wedding band design that they like, and then go back to JP for customization at a lower price. :)

You cant tell the difference by just looking unless you place two beside each other. one way to hide the yellowish if you are concerned would be to get a 6prong ring setting.

Actually at JP they placed E/F/G along side each other and we couldn't tell the difference, top down/side ways/bottoms up, until they told us to closely scrutinise the bottom to see that very slight yellow tinge for G when placed next to E. When next to F we couldn't tell them apart. Then again we might either be just so blind, or we are just not experts lol

I could see the difference with E and G. F and G I couldn't see much difference.

When I was there, they showed me the Brellia (F) and a normal cushion (G).
The Brellia is left side and normal cushion on the right side in the pic.
That one I could see the color difference easily. But that's also because the Brellia is a much better cut with better light return. So naturally the diamond will look brighter which gives a whiter appearance. As long as the cut is good and the diamond is brilliant, you won't be able to tell much of the color difference since its going to be so bright.
IMO, if your diamond cut is good, dun have to worry so much on the color.

Then g colour shouldnt be a problem since you wunt see the diamond from below once its set into the ring setting.

There's a difference in your picture. I was looking at the super ideal round diamonds and the difference isn't obvious. Different shapes makes a difference too. Learning something new everyday haha

Hey guys, can someone roughly tell me the price difference between the different cuts? I.e. Super Ideal VS Solesfera VS Brellia VS Octagan etc

With all other factors being exactly the same (carat, clarity, colour), for diamonds that are 0.5 carat+- maybe 5-10% more for the special cuts.

The closer you are to 1 carat, I think the price will be 10-15% more.

Beyond 1 carat about 15 - 20% more.

Just a rough guide, I didn't really scrutinize the prices.

Good luck hunting!

I felt obligated to give my review on Jann Paul and Vince because of their excellence service and high quality of ring/diamond.

I was served by Vince when I first went down to visit them. He spent 2 hours giving me education on diamonds as I was totally clueless about diamonds. I left the shop not sure if I should get from Jann Paul as I wanted to shop around.

He followed up with me during this period of time and source for stones that fit in my budget and my requirements. In fact it was because of his high service level, it made me not wanting to look elsewhere but just go ahead with his recommendations on my second visit.

Total time took to craft a customized ring was 4 months not because of what but because I made 5 changes to their 3D rendering. They was very prompt and made changes to the design. They was never once unhappy despite me being a fussy customer. After which a wax design was done up. I was happy with the end result and proceeded with crafting of ring.

Ring was crafted in less than a month and Vince rejected the ring as it was different from my design.

Ring has to be re-crafted because of their stringent screening of quality!!
This goes to show that they value their customers and they are serious about the work they produce.

Ring was finally ready for collection in June and I walked out of Jann Paul a happy customer.

High level of service by Vince and their team despite 5 x 3D rendering, 1 x wax prototype, 2 x crafting of ring !!!

Highly recommend anyone who has intention of buying diamond to visit Jann Paul !!

Thank you Vince, thank you Jann Paul :)

I remember the Super Ideal being around the same price as the Brellia I got. Not too sure about the rest. They also have another one called Octavia

Solesfera will be definitely more expensive, as it has more facets and cut in a way to maximise light return. Was told that this is the signature for JP and prices would be approx 10% or so higher than a Super Ideal.

Octagon will also be more expensive, but once you mount it onto the setting, can't really tell the octagon from the round one haha
