Seems like lots of people have gotten their rings from JP. I've never heard of them before. But I'm likely making a trip down after reading this forum!
Unfortunately I know little about diamonds & jewellery, so I asked around.

My friend recommended Lee Hwa since he bought his engagement rings there & subsequently took his SO to purchase their weddings rings together at LH as well. He said as far as he's concerned, he's satisfied with the purchase.

Also, My sister & bro-in-law suggested D'Meyson because both of them were really impressed with the store's service & prices. I heard that they're well known for providing affordable & quality jewellery. My sister's engagement ring bling-ed me to death! I remember my lecturer @Singapore Poly mentioning D'Meyson during my business course years ago & he said the same thing about them having reasonable prices. I should have listened carefully then (but I was busy chatting) bc he also talked about other jewellery stores in SG.

Anyway, my top options are Lee Hwa/ D'Meyson/ CitiGems. I'll check out JP too.

Where is this from? Can't comment much as i don't usually look at heart shaped diamonds as it doesn't sparkle as good as round (You sure you want this to be your proposal ring? It might seem sweet if shes young but it gets 'childish' when older)

BIG THANK YOU TO CONTRIBUTORS HERE!
Learnt a lot this past few months :s22:
Based on the findings from bros here, I know that JP diamonds are the best around and of good value!

Hoot a 0.71 carrot F VS2 super cut from them :s13:
This was my fiance ring the mom bought for her last time 0.51 carrot Ideal cutting also same price as my 0.71 carrot super ideal cut..

KoSmxBM.jpg

For that same price, I managed to get a bigger and much more sparkly diamond. When I compare them, the difference of 0.2ct is quite big. Maybe it's also because the 0.7ct one is a better cut.
Sparkle wise, the 0.7ct wins handsdown. Its much much more shiny.

my video =P

I din expect the difference between super ideal and ideal to be so obvious. Then again, I dunno whether my MIL kenna ketuk.. she said she was only told it was the best cut (Ideal) and wasn't shown the scopes.. oh well.

Moral of the story - Spend more $$ doesn't mean the diamond is better. Learn and check if the diamond is a good cut yourself and check them with the scopes. If I didn't come across this forum and learn from you guys, I would probably just ended buying off buying blindly from those jewellery shops.

Woo.. can see big difference. Congratz on your buy!

Oh her choice, then ok la as long she like it!

Perhaps take a look at Jann Paul first? I believe they do have some heart shaped diamond for selection. (Generally i'll always recommend people to also checkout Jann Paul as they usually only carry top cut grade diamonds but at a really good price)

Yup if it's JP's sizing it should be HK size (cos the ring crafting is actually done in HK).

But I've come across various size charts for which the same "HK size" corresponds to different US sizes, so if anyone is intending to give JP the ring size for crafting, better double check it and if possible, bring down a sample ring that is in the correct size for them to measure. Best if if your gf goes along and can take measurements on the spot :s13:

Yea, anyway they give free resizing so still got chance to change the size.
I was told to be sure the size is correct then use their free laser engraving service. Did you engrave anything on your ring? What do you guys usually engrave?

Nice pics! Looks big :D Did you do 8 claws?

thanks! haha its a 0.644 only (looks bigger thanks to the 8 prongs and the tapered band). Had to do 8 prongs as the 6 prongs wouldn't fit well with the octagon diamond, though it does take away the shape a little.

Hi Guys, been really noob abt diamonds and stuffs, this thread really save me much hassle.
Recently just went to JP to get my engagement ring and spent almost half a day there.

Was quoted for 2 Octagon diamonds as follows:
1) 0.525ct F VVS2
2) 0.531ct D VS1 --> +$350

Have not gotten the scopes pics yet.
Can any expert help me verify if its a good purchase?
Thanks!!

Hello guy, my gf just broke off the engagement. So I'm looking to sell the engagement ring.

Larry's Lazare diamond
0.71 carat
F Color
VS2 Clarity

I got it for 12.4k together with a white gold setting on a classic 4 prong.
Let me know if anyone is interested. Prices can be negotiated. Just want to get over and done with! The reason I got the lazare collection is because of its cut diamond which is known to sparkle. That explains the pricing as well. It's GIA certified too. Can bring to Larry to verify too.

Hi all,

If your refer to my previous post which I bought my diamond from whiteflash.

I've since set it on a setting.

A lesson from this experience tells me that ring size is not universal!

Different shop have different differently ring size like your shoe UK8 vs US9. Even though they use the same measurement tools.

So here's my ring after setting it on.

Sorry to hear about this bro. You might have better luck trying selling it at Carousell. Larry's Lazare diamond is an Ideal cut but not Super Ideal cut.

JP is selling their Super Ideal Cut 0.7 F VS2 for arnd 7k. So its already priced much lower and a better cut. Unless you're willing to drop the price alot to less than 6k, it'll be hard for you to sell it here.

Agree that he should try selling in other platform where people prioritize 'branding' more than anything. Most bros here goes for quality over brand. haha.
