You are on a tight schedule!

How long is the average end to end process (from 1st appointment to collection) at JannPaul?

I'm intending to propose in the last week of August. Planning to make a first appointment sometime this week. Would it be in time for end August?

Anyone getting one soon?

So many in the market don't know which to choose. GoldHeart and Lee Hwa is my choice now.

Budget around 1k

My fiancé proposed to me with an unique blue sapphire engagement ring surrounded by small blue diamonds and white diamonds. It was a customised ring, original price was almost 3k but he got a fantastic discount from both the Jewellery shop and the workshop who customised the ring for him. All in all, the ring was less then 1.5k ◡̈ the shop was Goldheart.

Brands or custom designs?

If into brands, just go whichever you like.

If customize, i believe JP is one of the lowest cost and one of the best 3D rendering software and designers to assist you with.

i don't want JP. almost everyone goes there. if the hype is justified then ok i understand. but its not. so any other place to recommend apart from JP?

anyone got cool ring designs for men to share?

... unfortunately i think quite hard to find "cool" designs for men that can look classy. Or that guys are willing to wear for that matter ... My hubby was very against melee diamonds (even one tiny one also no) or any twist design, so he just has a two-layer, two-tone (white gold + gold hehe) band to match mine :) i think most guys just have a solid colour ie: white gold, titanium, gold band.

if not, think i've seen cartier love (the engraved ones?) on some guys too.

After reading through the thread, I've decided not to purchase from JP too.

The guy forking out the money naturally want the most bang for buck for a specific technical specifications, VS1, VS2 D, E, F etc.

But the problem is, does my gf care about the specifications? Ultimately it has to be something she's proud to wear out.

A normal conversation would be where she got the ring from. Not the specifications of the ring.

If she feels proud saying it's from Cartier, I will buy a Cartier.

I mentioned in earlier post, she told me JP sounds like 'street stall' in Korean, not a troll comment.

Ultimately it's individual preferences, if shes into branding, then just go for the brand.

As for my partner, we've been to almost all the well known brands including cartier, tiffany etc, in the end she preferred JP, simply because it's bigger & sparkier....in the end those friends who gotten branded ones actually envy of her because it's twice their carat size & more bling than theirs for the similar price.

But of cuz the down point is its not a luxury brand la :s13::s13:

edit: To be honest, my first visit to JP about 3-4 years ago, i too thought that the brand sounds cheap, but my thinking changed after knowing more about diamond and also considering that diamond is more about size and bling and not branding like leather goods where the logo is printed for everyone to see.

As long as the SO is happy, that's all it matters. After all, you are buying the ring for her and not yourself :s13: I guess the reason why JP is popular here is because they give the best value for money in terms of quality and price. Even for wedding bands they use Hearts n Arrows diamonds (D-F, VVS1-VS1) quality whereas all the other ones I've been to aren't as good and priced even higher. But I guess you are paying for the branding or design though technically you customize that same design anywhere.

If you want quality at low price, JP is the best choice out there. If your gf want branding like Tiffany/Cartier etc. then u stick with that better. Thankfully, my gf is more into quality and she likes the diamond I got from JP very much. We went to Tiffany story to browse and compare and it affirmed my choice even more. Not to mention for the same price, it could only get half the size I got and at a lower spec. But like I said, there's no right or wrong in this. I find that us guys usually use our logical thinking to get the best value than falling into marketing gimmicks. Maybe that's why JP is so popular in this tech forum :s13:

It depends on the social circle. Some of my girlfriend's gfs asked how many carats and grade whereas others asked where it was purchased from. Her guy friends will ask where and how many carats too Really depends on individual but end of the day as long as your girl is happy that's more important.

Hi All,

I was being quoted the following by JannPaul:

1) 0.93 F VS1: $11,900
2) 0.90 E VVS2: $12,600
3) 0.90 F VS2: $11,200

Are the prices reasonable? Which option is a better buy?

Averagely heard 6-8 weeks though. If you don't customise the ring it should be faster, fastest I've heard of was 1 month from making deposit. For ours, made deposit on 15th Jul and the invoice says it will be ready by 9th Sep. Think you need to ask JP directly and see if they can rush for you, I believe they would try their best to accommodate.

How long does it take to make a ring? Is end August enough time?

See how much you want to customize. Best is to start early so you can do more stuff. If you choose their existing design, then it will be faster. If you want to customize, they will do 3D of it. The more time you have, the more you can change the design here and there. You can also ask for them to superimpose the design on ur gf's hand and do a wax model. These extra options doesnt cost extra but just need more time.

They go explain it here.

I will pick the 0.93 haha bigger and better clarity for $700, no harm since you're already going this "big" :p Go big or go home!! :p :s13::s13::s13:

It depends on your priority preference on the specs?
For myself, I prioritise the price and the appearance, I'm fine with anything at & above VS2 and colour F. I can't tell the difference in clarity so no point paying so much more for VVS2, and for colour, I'll compare the stones side by side, I believe the difference between E and F is really minimal. So for me I'll go for option 1 0.93carat.

Hi guys, Im very new to this thread so pardon my noob questions.

Besides JP which other shop would you guys recommend?

I am looking for about
0.6 carat
color E F
clarity VS1 VS2
EEE
budget with setting about 4k.

is it possible?

and is JP the cheapest you guys seen from all your research?

Anyone been to Poh Kim Jewellery?

Personally feel that JP is not really cheap, but more on the assurance of quality. U can try Vivo Diamond though, their website displays prices. I made a price comparison against JP's using Vivo website, for the same specs on GIA, Vivo is cheaper by 700-800, but Vivo's HCA score is indeed not as good as JP's.

Don't forget the scopes. It's not hard to find a cheap diamond with same GIA specs with low HCA score.

[/SPOILER]

FYI, if youre customizing your ring, you can request for them to superimpose your 3d render on ur gr's hand. Mine turned out very realistic to the final ring.

These were of my past designs that I went through with them before I settled on final version. Later I showed them to my gf and she got shocked (in a good way). Its good to keep these stuff for keepsake too.

One thing I must say is that JP is very very patient throughout. I kept changing my ring design until I felt quite pai seh. But they were very accommodating throughout and gave me good and practical advice.

Is this new?? Back then my time I had to use my pinky finger and wear the setting for them to put the diamond on top to imagine. haha. Now so advance already.

I'd pick the 0.90 F VS2. JP filters their VS2 to be the better VS2s already. No black inclusions, eye clean and risky girdle inclusions. Since their diamonds are Super ideal cuts, the brilliance is as good as it gets. The remaining budget just use to max out the size.

I would consider a G color too :D Have you seen their G color range?

I will check out their G colour.

By the way, does anyone know how much does 1ct costs? Do you think it is worth to up the carat to 1ct?
