I checked with my colleague. His wedding bands were actually abacus gold rings fused with don't know what. His is silver ring now with a little blink blink. He said like this is cheaper than your typical wedding bands though.

The vintage ah beng kind.
:s13:

Ps. I should mention that for proposal/engagement ring. Not wedding band

Ideal or Super Ideal???

Hi all bros, gurus, i had a budget of around 3-4k. went down to JP managed to see super ideal cut 0.44G VS2 plus setting about 3.3k. But forgot to check the ideal cut price and size. what is ur opinion? to go smaller stone super ideal or bigger stone ideal?

Probably a better question to find out from your gf. Super ideal more "value" and supposed to seem bigger.

But these technical stuff are for forum folks and spec geeks.

You go outside, 95% of the people only know 4C and what brand. Size is the first thing ppl see, followed by "where you buy" and "what colour/clarity". But if your gf is a geek like us then she can heck care these ppl and appreciate the beauty of the light return and symmetry.

Ya man. Got GF a 0.46 SIC diamond, she hiam 0.46 cannot cheat ownself and round up to 0.5 and tell people it's a half carat diamond :(

Already thinking after all the wedding and hoo haa maybe change the rock to a 0.6x one to shut her up :(

This is why i always say it's always best to check with GF on her expectation on size before purchasing. Typical SG girls would like 0.5-0.75 range, if they are more elite kind, 1CT will be minimum. - Sometimes it also depends on the environment she works at or the friends that she have, if most of them are well to do, it's normal to expect something bigger in order to 'save face'

Not exactly sure on the GST part, however, the trade in is only for the diamond if i'm not wrong, i'm not sure if you could 're-use' the setting, you might need to pay additional for the setting and also, re-certification fees (around 150-200?) if you purchased it more than 2 years.

Super ideal is like 2x the price of normal ideal iirc.

But i went to websites like Blue Nile to see, their finest cut is even more expensive. :o

That depends on what ideal standard you're referring to, a true ideal will probably just 10-20% cheaper than Super Ideal, if you get those random ideal certified diamond, they usually perform very badly

Is that what your partner wanted? TBH it's not easy to find someone whom will like yellow fancy diamond as proposal ring

Proposal previously was a colorless stone. This is a gift. I saw the Tiffany Yellow Soleste and they were stunning. Will get a delicate melee halo around it.

Interesting choice of gift haha, usually only ang mo appreciates such colored stone and style. I've hardly seen any asian like such style, probably because of the asian culture where they always deem 'yellow' as not desirable.

Need some advice!

Went JP recently. Was quoted approx 4.5k for a Super ideal 0.51 carat F vs1 with settings. It was slightly above my Budget.

Can anyone advise what diamond can I get at about 3.5k (without settings) if I look at ideal rather than Super ideal? Forgot to ask them :(

The HCA score is 1.2
light return - excellent
fire - excellent
scintillation - excellent
spread - very good

They rushing me to confirm the diamond before it gets sold to someone else.
Is this a good buy?
